The ground-floor also houses the bathroom, along with a super king-size (zip/link) bedroom, for convenience; by climbing the stairs you'll find two further bedrooms, including a king-size with TV, and a single. Within walking distance, you'll arrive at an array of village amenities, including The Whitby Crab, Cod & Lobster, and The Endeavour as dine-out options, along with a convenience store. A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still a rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and very warm. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need and there was a very generous welcome hamper. The shower was great and the bed was very comfortable. Would recommend this cottage, but note the stairs are steep. There is a downstairs bedroom, and the bathroom is downstairs - perfect if you canât manage the stairs. We took some local walks and also drove to nearby Sandsend and then walked along the beach into Whitby from there. Perfect little spot!

Tap in kitchen occasionally leaked unexpectedly. Toilet flush was poor, sometimes flushing okay, other times needing several attempts to leave it clean. Bathroom door sticking, unable to shut closed with ease. Welcome hamper was fabulous, thank you so much for the lovely treats, even pumpkins wow. It was a good start to our holiday.
