About this property

Enjoying sea glimpses in the coastal village of Staithes, North Yorkshire is Corner House, a delightful, two-bedroom cottage. Set within the North York Moors National Park, whilst enveloped by independent shops and eateries, Corner House offers pet-friendly accommodation for a family of four, conveniently set for a seascape. Benefit from a permit for local parking before travelling on foot to your new abode. Be welcomed into the characterful kitchen/diner, housing all the appliances for a self-catered stay, with dining for four guests, beams overhead, and a lovely open fire to light on cooler evenings. Once you've enjoyed mealtimes together, whether indoors or upon the enclosed patio, climb up to the second-floor sitting room for elevated views of the shore; with plenty of plush seating to sink into, unwind with the Smart TV for entertainment. As sleep calls, head to the first floor to be delighted by a lovely double bedroom and a handy bunk room, both serviced by a ground-floor bathroom, featuring an indulgent Jacuzzi bath with shower over. Once you're raring to explore, in the village itself you'll find a selection of independent amenities to take advantage of, where you can enjoy a fresh coffee and a slide of cake at Cobbles, sample some local produce at Cod & Lobster, and even brush up on your local knowledge at The Staithes Story Museum․ Step out from the front door to the beach, just a stone's throw away, where you can sip on a nice hot brew in one of the camping mugs provided. Travelling south towards Whitby, arrive to an abundance of attractions, including the Whitby Museum, the 199 Steps landmark, the gothic remains of Whitby Abbey, Whitby Beach, and the nature-filled Cinder Track, or head north to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, to board the Cliff Tramway, hike up to the beach cliffs or spend the day paddling and building sandcastles, before returning home for sundowners. Escape to the seaside at Corner House.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an rnli lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.

Perfect for a couple. It has everything you need including a nice jacuzzi bath. Very warm and cosy approximately 30 steps from the very welcoming pub The Cod & Lobster. I’d definitely recommend and will be returning next year.

Bunk bed mattress could feel the springs. Outside was dirty so didn,t want to sit there.
