River Cottage is consistently praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and quiet location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, the proximity to a charming country pub, and the ease of access to local walks and amenities. Some guests noted the lack of a washing machine and the additional charge for WiFi as minor drawbacks, but overall the property is highly regarded as a great base for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and moors.
Guests frequently commend the property for its exceptional cleanliness, describing it as spotless and well-maintained, which reflects a high standard of hygiene and care.
The property's location is praised for its quietness and proximity to local attractions, although some guests mentioned the steep hills and limited mobile phone reception as minor inconveniences.
The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable, with a few noting the beds and sofa bed could be improved. The presence of a country pub next door adds to the comfort for many, without causing disturbance.
Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good pub food nearby. However, the absence of a washing machine and the extra charge for WiFi are noted drawbacks.
While the reviews reflect a well-maintained property, there is insufficient information regarding the presence of welcome gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, thus a score cannot be given.
Staithes 0.75 miles. An attractive traditional, semi-detached sandstone cottage in the rural hamlet of Dalehouse, on the edge of the historic village of Staithes. This characterful Staithes cottage has been lovingly renovated with a contemporary feel, and provides bright, cheerful accommodation. The cosy dining room has French windows leading to a small private decked courtyard, and the spacious sitting room has views over woodland. This well-equipped Staithes cottage offers very comfortable family accommodation with easy access to Staithes itself, local beaches and beautiful walking trails. The fishing village of Staithes offers quaint, cobbled streets and a feeling of stepping back in time, as it is little changed since Captain Cook's day.
This Staithes cottage adjoins a quiet country inn which provides good food and refreshments. Staying in this Staithes cottage, you will be well placed to visit the North York Moors and surrounding picturesque villages - be sure to try the steam railway which starts in Grosmont only 11 miles away over the moors.
The seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist's dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides and there is a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliffside to the sea's edge.

The pub next didn't start food until the 1st of March, which was disappointing but we got over it, we went to lots of interesting restaurants and had lots of different food. The cottage was absolutely lovely and big, we had lots of quality time and would hope to return at some time.
