Complete with two elegant bedrooms, accommodating four guests, private decking with a hot tub, and an open-plan living space, the lodge rests in a tranquil position, making it perfect for a getaway. The living space is well-equipped with a sleek kitchen, a dedicated dining area, and an inviting sitting area, offering a relaxing place with the glow of the electric fire in the backdrop. Enjoy stargazing from the indulgent hot tub, before retiring to either the king-size bedroom or the lovely twin bedroom. Start your day with some fresh sea air at Runswick Bay Beach, where you can also enjoy a day of paddleboarding, swimming and kayaking, before grabbing some brunch at a nearby café. For a hub of amenities, travel to Staithes, home to taverns, restaurants, convenience stores, tea rooms, fish and chip shops, and takeaways. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy following the 109-mile-long Cleveland Way trail, guiding you towards the national park, offering breath-taking views of the peaceful shoreline and the charming communities dotted across the seafront. For an itinerary of fun, head to Whitby town to sample local menus, shop at independent stores, tour the gothic remains of Whitby Abbey, and explore the Captain Cook Memorial Museum. Experience all of this, and more, at Lilac Lodge.

A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.

Spacious, warm, fully kitted out and quite luxurious for a holiday lodge. Heating throughout was very effective, the shower very powerful, big oven, good hub and plenty of storage throughout. Used the hot tub every day, which was lovely, and the patio area, chair and table set was very nice … unfortunately no view, just a big hedge. The location was great, 2 minutes to a pub with fantastic food, 2 minutes from the Clevedon Way walks and a short walk downhill to the bay.

Very quiet and hot tub was brilliant. I only point out one thing that needs addressing and that is the bathroom door would not stay shut. It just keeps opening as if the latch wasn’t catching.

The hot tub was lovely and warm and a great addition to our stay. Unfortunately the outdoor cushions were mouldy due to being left outside. There was a sign outside saying put under cover but they should have been kept inside instead. Didn’t spoil our stay but may need replacing or cleaning.
