Guests say

Marigold Lodge is praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location, offering a peaceful setting and proximity to the beach. The hot tub is a highlight, though privacy concerns are noted. The lodge is well-equipped, though some minor maintenance issues and a lack of certain amenities are mentioned. Guests appreciate the quiet environment and friendly community, with many looking forward to returning.

The lodge generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests finding it spotless upon arrival. However, one guest mentioned finding dog fur, suggesting a slight inconsistency.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to the beach and local attractions. The steep walk to the beach is noted, but considered worthwhile.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the lodge well-equipped, contributing to a homely feel. Some guests noted issues with water pressure and soft mattresses.

Facilities like the hot tub are appreciated, but privacy issues and minor maintenance problems are raised. Lack of recycling and some desired amenities like a dishwasher are noted.

While guests mention receiving biscuits and the provision of basic supplies, there is insufficient information to assess the consistency of thoughtful gestures such as welcome gifts, and thus the score is set to null.

Spend your morning along Runswick Bay Beach for some fresh sea air, followed by a few hours of swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking, ahead of some brunch at a local café. For further amenities, head to Staithes, where you’ll find a hub of convenience stores, takeaways, restaurants, taverns, tea rooms, and fish and chip shops. Take in the stunning coastal views across the region by following the 109-mile-long Cleveland Way trail, leading you north towards the national park, travelling through many lovely coastal communities. Be sure to tour Whitby for a day of fun, where you can tour the gothic remains of Whitby Abbey, shop at a host of independent stores, dine out, and visit the Captain Cook Museum, plus much more. Make lovely memories at Marigold Lodge.

A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.

The lodge was great and easy to find behind the hotel. The lodge was clean and tidy and included everything we needed. The hot tub was great and private. We found Runswick bay lovely and we had a short walk to the beach but the hill was very steep, There was an option to drive down the hill and park the car. Overall we loved the lodge and Runswick bay and would love to stay again.

In the advert is a beautiful gift hamper.. we got a packet of biscuits.. The picture of the dining area outside looked inviting and smart, ours was a piece of shabby wood which couldn’t really be used..The outside steps are fairly steep, especially the bottom one .. I use walking sticks and needed help with the bottom one every time, this should definitely be mentioned.. Also there was ‘items’ still down the sofa.. Apart from that the lodge was a pleasure to stay in!!! Would recommend the hotel for a meal .. it might be bit more costly but it’s sooo worth it.

It was a shame that there was no info on if you could turn the hottub off and how long to reheat if it wasn't needed for a while. It is disgraceful that there is no way to recycle and would be interested to know what is being done to get the council to provide this. The lodge was immaculate and had everything needed including toilet roll, tea, coffee, milk and things to wash up with. The mattress was far too soft and uncomfortable and the chairs in the dining area were rickety and cheaply made. The sofa wasn't put together properly which meant that when I leaned on one side it tumbled over and knocked the table with the lamp mixer, luckily nothing broke and I'm ok. Also, it would be helpful to have tourist leaflets on the local area, I left some that I picked up. Everything else was excellent. Love the efforts to make the outside area look nice with trees etc. Really enjoyed our holiday. Location is excellent and we would recommend.
