We rented Oakridge for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday with family. The property is beautiful and has a lovely garden which we made the most of as we had fabulous weather. The garden is secure so excellent if you have a dog. The location is perfect for visiting the beautiful beaches nearby. We did have an issue with the bathrooms however. The main bathroom toilet did not flush properly and the shower didn’t work making the bathroom redundant. The shower in the master bedroom had barely a trickle of water coming out. This left one shower downstairs in the utility room for ten of us to use. This has been mentioned in reviews and the visitors book so should have been sorted by now. We did not let it spoil our weekend and would love to return but guests do expect to have the all the advertised amenities working.

This property is lovely. Full of character and charm and well located to visit surrounding attractions, beaches and towns such as Whitby. The property is generous in size and well suited to large groups. The garden is also much bigger than it looks and very usable and very secure for those with dogs or small children. For my family, there are only four of us (adults), but we book large properties like this especially if there is a ground floor bedroom and bathroom for our daughter as her mobility is poor, and more than one shower upstairs, of which this property has both, so that was a big tick for us. There was also a shower stall at the property which was amazingly helpful. The issue was mainly with the bathroom facilities upstairs in the family bathroom as the overhead shower did not work. This compromised us to share the one remaining shower. If the house had been to capacity, I can imagine this situation to have caused even more inconvenience than it caused us! The time just comes when you have to spend money on maintaining a property. People do expect things to work and book holidays in good faith that they will. Another small suggestion would be to include a pint of milk or a long life option in the welcome pack, just to get people started while they locate the local shop.
