Set in the North York Moors National Park in the quaint village of Fadmoor is The Farmhouse, a traditional character cottage. Perfect for a family, friends, or couples, this quintessential farmhouse cottage boasts exposed beams and a woodburning stove for a homely break. As you arrive at the cottage, unload your bags before heading to the kitchen/diner for a hearty home-cooked meal using the Range cooker. From here, move through to the sitting room to cosy up in front of the flickering woodburning stove. As you grow tired, climb the stairs to the bedrooms on the first floor; a double and a twin are served by a family bathroom, while the master, another double, has a handy en-suite shower room. When you wake, enjoy a coffee in the conservatory, in the garden on the decking, or join like-minded holidaymakers in the shared garden. Enjoy a traditional farm stay at The Farmhouse. The cottage was very comfortable and is in an ideal location for the Yorkshire Dales and also the coastal towns. Walked to the Royal Oak at nearby Gillamoor, a nice stroll of just under 15 minutes, and enjoyed 2 excellent dinners there. Would love to visit the Cottage again at some future time.

However we found it to be warm and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped. The mattresses were firm which we like although our son did also use the duvet from one of the single beds to lie on. The oven did need a wipe over and one of the baking trays had congealed fat on from bacon being cooked by a previous guest but this was easily sorted out. The woodwork and radiators do need a good wipe over. A couple of bulbs need replacing ie the spot light in the main bedroom and in the hallway downstairs. We enjoyed a cuppa and biscuits in the conservatory. Overall we had a lovely stay in an old cottage full of character in a peaceful location.

The place was absolutely filthy. The kitchen had hardly any crockery or pans and I had to thoroughly clean it before we could use it. I booked the accommodation for me and my husband, my daughter and son in law and my two grandchildren on the basis that it had a large enclosed rear garden. The rear garden was so overgrown it was not possible to use it. The outdoor furniture was rusty and had sharp bits sticking out so we were unable to use that as well. The rear patio area was full of weeds and the furniture covered in moss. There is an open barn at the rear of the property which has equipment in it and is a danger to children. There was no key for the porch door so we were unable to lock it and the conservatory door at the side of the house has a broken lock so we were unable to lock that as well so the property was not secure. The toilet flush barely worked and the bathrooms were filthy. The bedding smelled awful so I had to purchase new to be able to sleep in the bedrooms. The beds were old and smelly and the mattresses were rock hard and my bed had springs sticking out of it. There was no hoover or cleaning materials in the property. This property is not fit to be let and you have the audacity to charge 1150 per week. Then to top it off a viewing was arranged for the property whilst we were there. The property is up for sale and it is very clear to me that no one is now looking after it. I would like a refund. We had to leave the property on the Friday as we just wanted to go home. This holiday was supposed to be a treat for my daughter and it ended up being an ordeal. Yes please publish this and do not let another poor family go through what we have just experienced.
