About this property

Situated 8 miles from the rural village of Limavady, County Londonderry, is this charming single-storey holiday home, Old Shop Cottage. Idyllically situated in the peaceful countryside of Northern Ireland and framing picturesque views towards the mountains of Donegal, Old Shop Cottage offers a lovely setting for two couples or a group of friends looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Park up on your private driveway nestled at the foot of this delightful stone-built dwelling before stepping over the threshold and entering into the light and airy open-plan living space, playing host to a well-equipped kitchen nestled alongside an elegant breakfast bar, as well as a snug sitting area where you can put your feet up and relax with a movie following a day full of adventure. Utilize the modern amenities provided to cook up a storm and venture outside to indulge in a spot of alfresco dining on the decking before ending the day in style with a luxurious seat amongst the bubbles in the hot tub, where you can soak in the peaceful backdrop of the surrounding countryside. As the evening grows darker, head back indoors to retire to either of the two thoughtfully laid-out bedrooms, a king-size or a double room, with the latter benefiting from access to it's own en-suite shower room, stylishly tiled throughout. In the morning, kick-start your day with an invigorating rinse in the spacious shower enclosure situated in the contemporary shower room, with Jack-and-Jill access for convenience, before heading out to explore your surroundings. Avid outdoor adventurers are spoilt for choice with the selection of activities available from your doorstep; cast your line and test your luck with a spot of fly fishing at Duncrun Fishing Lakes, try your hand at gliding with expert tuition available at Ulster Gliding Club, or climb to the summit of Binevenagh to discover the Celtic sea god statue that overlooks the coastline. Jump in the car and take the short journey into the heart of Limavady where you'll find all of your local amenities such as well-stocked convenience stores, traditional country pubs and delicious takeaways, along with a host of attractions to keep you entertained, including Green Lane Museum, the Limavady Visitor Information Centre and Limavady United Football Club. Head to the coastline of Carrowclare and follow the trail of Ballymacran along the banks of the Lough Foyle, Northern Ireland’s biggest estuary, keeping your eyes peeled for the wintering waterfowl and waders foraging on the shore, and when the tide is out, marvel at the sunken remains of the Vought Corsair, an American fighter aircraft dating back to 1944. Explore the delights of Northern Ireland with a stay at Old Shop Cottage.

  • Emma

Rural setting but shop only a couple of miles down the road. The view from the decking and hot tub is amazing. Cottage had everything you could need. Agree that an information pack would be useful (eg regarding recycling/food waste/how washing machine works) but most other stuff is available on the internet nowadays so no stress. Beds super comfy and really appreciated the milk, wine, tea and coffee. Highly recommend and if ever back in Northern Ireland definitely stay here again.
