The Grampian Mountains, attractive woodlands and delightful rural scenery, is ideal for the walker or climber. Add in the nearby castles and distilleries and you have the ideal place for a holiday break. It is on the NE250 driving route. The majestic River Dee nearby, offers good salmon fishing and the beauty spots of Linn of Dee and the Bridge of Feugh, both offer the opportunity to see salmon jumping. There are numerous other excellent golf courses in the surrounding area and many other leisure opportunities within easy reach, including skiing at Glenshee or the Lecht and excellent cycling on the many cycle paths. Royal Deeside has numerous castles, most with a wealth of history. Those open to the public are Braemar, Balmoral, Crathes, with its world famous gardens, and Drum, the latter two being National Trust for Scotland properties. On the edges of Royal Deeside there are several more castles including Corgarth, Craigievar and the ruins of Dunnottar Castle. Shop, pub and hotel ½ mile.

Great to have Asgard secure cycle shed taking 4 drop bar bikes. Two had to be locked outside as no space inside for them. Fridge very small for 6 people so just come prepared to shop every few days. Owners very friendly and location for access to lovely walks and cycles great.

Lovely place to spend a week end. Great walks and good eating venues.The couple who own property very helpful and pre warned us regarding kitchen ceiling which did not spoil our stay. The property was very clean and had all facilities which we required. Fridge is a little small for our 5 occupants but due to cold weather able to store on Balcony in cool bags.(teenagers in party).Would recommend ScoltyTower be aware of parking fees.Eating at The Saffron Garden a delight so helpful . Good walk into town down hill we booked a Taxi for home journey (£7).Will use this venue again for future visits with grand daughter and family.Grand daughter a student in Aberdeen and found the bus timetable very easy to access with free travel to Banchory.

Excellent lodge. Warm, plenty of hot water, great showers, good kitchen and relaxing sofas. Beds super comfy too. And it's very quiet. They just need to replace the upstairs carpet as its badly stained.
