The Byre at Cairnton Farm is the perfect family retreat. Set on a working beef farm, the property offers a very relaxing base in a beautiful area of Deeside and only a half hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Aberdeen city.
With panoramic views of the surrounding countryside it has been refurbished and finished to a very good standard throughout, providing everything you could possibly need for your holiday in terms of amenities and comfort. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners who also own the Deeside Activity Park just one mile away. Guests have use of all the amenities there which makes it a great ‘all weather’ entertainment option for all the family.
There are plenty of opportunities to walk from the doorstep of the cottage and the sitting out area at the front and rear of the property makes the most of the beautiful scenery. A premier outdoor playground for lovers of adventure sports, Deeside also boasts several castles and stately homes including Balmoral; an abundance of scenic walks and cycle trails to suit all levels and many picturesque towns and villages begging to be explored. An ideal holiday at any time of the year.

The views from the Byre are beautiful the evening sunsets amazing although the Byre is in the corner of the farm yard where the hot tub is situated which is the entrance we used, the big glass doors on the opposite side of the cottage opening out over the fields were used in the evenings, the place was well maintained and the bed and bedding lead to late starts, oh you will get an inspection most days from the enjoyment Committee the two furry four legged very friendly soft Labradors. Everyone we met on the farm had time to chat and was very friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful time thank you.

We had an excellent holiday. Our cottage, The Byre, was our perfect base for our Cairngorm adventures. We did a lot: The surrounding area is beautiful and has lots of scenic walks. We visited an excellent bird of prey centre in Huntly. Watched the Highland Games in Aboyne. Even a day trip to Loch Ness was possible (even though it was several hours in the car). Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and up for a chat. The cottage itself was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Katrina, Ken and Margaret looked after us well and even managed to squeeze the kids into a go kart session at short notice at Deeside Activity Centre, which they also own. It was a pleasure to chat with Ken about his farm and cows. And their dogs, Luna and Skye, were delightful and felt like part of the family by the end of the holiday. The wifi worked well which was good as we did struggle a little bit for mobile reception. We mainly found food at the farm shops and the Co-op in Aboyne (which was a short drive away). The hot tub was fun to use. It was fairly private with a good view of the hills and the swallows flitting around the barn. The beds were comfy and the duvets were warm.We were sad to leave and would love to return.

Ken and Margaret were very welcoming, the accommodation was well suited for taking our boys who are 8, 5.5 and 6 months old plus our two active dogs. Everything we needed was supplied and the beds were extremely comfortable, we’d highly recommend the Byre!
