Guests say

Pennan Lodge receives high praise for its stunning, peaceful location overlooking the sea and the village of Pennan. Guests consistently highlight the cottage’s cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities, making it an ideal base for exploring the Aberdeenshire coast. The tranquil setting, beautiful views, and opportunities for stargazing and wildlife spotting are frequently mentioned. While a few minor maintenance issues and a lack of fresh welcome gifts were noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

The majority of guests describe the cottage as very clean and well maintained. Only one review mentions minor issues with bathroom cleanliness, but this is outweighed by numerous positive comments.

The location is universally praised for its breathtaking views, peacefulness, and proximity to beaches, coastal walks, and charming villages. Guests frequently mention the stunning scenery and tranquillity.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, warm, and spacious, with restful nights and a homely atmosphere. One minor comment about a small bed cover was noted, but overall comfort is highly rated.

The cottage is described as well equipped with everything needed for a stay, including kitchen appliances and utensils. A few minor maintenance issues, such as worn cooker settings and low shower pressure, were mentioned but did not detract significantly from the experience.

Some guests mention a welcome package, though opinions on its quality vary and it is not guaranteed. Owners are noted for their helpfulness, such as posting forgotten items, but gifts or extras should not be expected as standard.

Both properties boast fantastic sea views; Mill Shore Cottage has a cosy living room which features windows on two sides allowing uninterrupted viewing of Mill Shore below – a secluded shingle beach with sandy shallows beyond, offering a unique perspective on the abundant marine life – seals can be spotted easily in the bay, whilst further out whales and dolphins are often sighted. Pennan Lodge again has marvellous views of Pennan itself and the bay beyond. In addition to the amazing marine life, just round the corner and visible from the cottages is Troup Head, a renowned nature reserve featuring the only UK mainland colony of gannets. Next door is Cullykhan Beach, another secluded cove reached by a steep walk down to the shore. Pennan is renowned for its famous phone box as featured in the film ’Local Hero’ but it is a lovely village in its own right, typical of those strung out along this rugged coastline, including Crovie and Gardenstown, reached by steep winding roads to the bottom of the cliffs from which they cling. Sensational from start to finish. The most incredible setting if you like peace and quiet. Could not fault it at all. An absolute gem of a place. Clean, comfortable with everything you need for a proper relaxing break away from it all. We would defiantly recommend without hesitation. Try the food at Pennan Inn. Locally sourced produce. Shona’s delicious home made cakes at her coffee hut in pennan is a realTreat. Visit the little pottery shop on the bay next to the cottage. I bought some lovely keepsakes, pretty shingled cove to sit by to and bird watch. Would we return? …….. definitely 🙌🏼

Lovely peaceful place to stay with great views off the sea. Clean and tidy the only small problem was someone had damaged the tv when we let them know it was replaced immediately can’t fault them.
