The pebbly bay below Auchmithie is marked at one end with sheer sandstone cliffs punctuated by caves, making it popular with smugglers in past times. Arbroath is within easy reach with plenty of shops and eateries and there is much to do for the visitor here and in the surrounding area; take a boat trip round the Bell Rock Lighthouse, visit Arbroath Abbey or enjoy the magnificent beaches at Lunan Bay and Montrose. There’s also plenty of wildlife to see from the magnificent sights of thousands of pink footed geese at the Montrose Basin to dolphins, porpoises and ospreys. An ideal location to visit places such as Dunnottar Castle, House of Dun, and Arbroath Signal tower. Auchmithie has many friendly residents, and so quiet at night we slept like tops!
