Kirriemuir 8.6 miles. Tucked away on the owner's farm in Fern near Kirriemuir, Angus is this welcoming, single-storey, detached cottage, North Lodge. Welcoming a group or family of six, you'll find everything you need to explore the great outdoors in this homely cottage in the Scottish Highlands. Three off-road parking spaces are available to unpack your belongings and admire the sweeping views across the Angus Glens. A well-equipped kitchen awaits the group chef to rustle up hearty meals, utilising the electric oven and hob, whilst a washing machine and dishwasher ensure easy clean ups. Gather around the table for six in the living/dining room to toast to your retreat or retire to the sofa in front of the crackling woodburning stove; there's a TV for evening entertainment as well as a selection of books and games. Surrounded by idyllic countryside, be sure to enjoy the peace and quiet in the front, enclosed garden, whilst you marvel at the unspoilt views. Follow long hill walks and busy days with a hot bath in the bathroom, before retiring to one of three bedrooms; there are two doubles and a zip/link twin to suit couples, families and friends. Take a break from the kitchen and dine at the nearby Drovers Inn, a traditional whitewashed pub serving hearty Scottish meals, or venture into the picturesque, sandstone town of Kirriemuir, home to a range of shops and eateries. Attractions include birthplace of J M Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, as well as Peter Pan Park, and Kirriemuir Golf Club. Historians will love the magnificent, 14th-century Glamis Castle, offering guided tours of its lavish interiors, whilst walkers have an abundance of landscapes to explore; Angus Glens offers scenic hill walks and woodlands to explore. Alternatively, the vibrant coastal cities of Dundee and Aberdeen are within easy reach to discover Scotland's rich history, culture and local delicacies. Kirriemuir is a magnificent red sandstone town in the Strathmore Valley, and is known as the gateway to the Angus Glens, which boast some of Scotland's most pristine scenery. The birthplace of novelist JM Barrie, creator of the beloved children's figure Peter Pan, is located in the town, and the house is now a museum run by the National Trust for Scotland. Glamis Castle and the famous Pictish Stones at Meigle are also located in Kirriemuir, while the Angus Glens provide excellent hill walking and mountaineering opportunities.
