Guests say

Guests are charmed by the North Stables - House Of Dun, praising its beautiful location, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, and the friendly staff. The estate offers a unique experience with private access to the grounds, and the property's historical ambiance is appreciated. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Reviews consistently mention the property as clean and well-presented, with only a few isolated comments on minor cleanliness issues. The positive remarks far outweigh the negatives, indicating high standards of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its stunning grounds, peacefulness, and the exclusive after-hours access to the estate. The proximity to local attractions and nature adds to the appeal, making the location almost universally appreciated.

The property is frequently described as comfortable and cosy, with comfortable beds and a homely feel. Some guests mention issues with appliances that affect comfort, such as the fridge and shower temperatures, but these are relatively few.

While the property is generally well-equipped, several reviews cite issues with maintenance, including the washing machine, Wi-Fi, and boiler. These recurring mentions suggest that while facilities are adequate, there is room for improvement in maintenance.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as dog-friendly amenities and a selection of teas and coffees. However, as these gifts are not consistently mentioned or guaranteed, they are a delightful bonus rather than a standard offering.

The apartment is large and comfortable, and fully equipped. The staff with whom we interacted, in the shop and on the tour, were very kind and fun to visit with. The best for us, were the after-hours, when everyone went home, and we had the whole Dun property to ourselves... we took wine and cheese and sat on the front steps watching the sun set... pretty near perfect.

They're also unlit, making a trip up after dark dangerous - especially when wet - unless you carry a torch/flashlight. The outside door light is insufficient to even illuminate the combination lock on the door. And, as I've told the NTS for several years, the door combination has not been changed in at least 10 years - so assuming 80% occupancy: 40 weeks x 10 years = 400 people with the combination. Does that sound secure?
