The Garden Rooms at Montrose offer a tranquil and picturesque setting with stunning gardens. Guests appreciate the high standard of the accommodation, spacious conservatory, and well-equipped kitchen. The property's location is ideal for exploring local attractions and enjoying the peaceful environment. While most reviews are glowing, there is a single mention of cleanliness issues, which seems to be an outlier.
Most guests found The Garden Rooms to be lovely and well-maintained. However, one review mentioned significant cleanliness issues, including mold and dead insects, which suggests an isolated incident rather than a common experience.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility, proximity to Montrose, and ease of access to local attractions and natural beauty, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday.
Guests consistently mention the spaciousness and cosiness of the accommodation, highlighting the comfort of the conservatory and the well-appointed interiors.
The property boasts excellent facilities, including a tennis court and putting green. The high-quality kitchen and shower room are frequently complimented, though one review cited maintenance issues, slightly lowering the score.
While guests express overall satisfaction with their stay, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.
An exquisite conversion of the old potting shed, set in the heart of the extensive gardens of Old Montrose House.. Situated in the grounds of Old Montrose House, the owners’ home, next to the Montrose Basin Nature Reserve, are these five holiday properties offering high quality accommodation close to each other, yet totally separate.
The Stables (ref UK11108) is a luxurious, detached conversion on two levels with a high spec finish and chic furnishings. Beautifully renovated and lovingly restored, it combines traditional cottage ambience with contemporary style, and features a walk-around gallery in the centre of the building above the living room.

Grieve’s Cottage (ref UK11107) is a little gem – a tastefully furnished and spacious, one bedroomed cottage with an open plan living space on the ground floor and a spacious bedroom with sumptuous bed and en-suite shower room on the first floor.
The Garden Room (ref UK34071) is an absolutely stunning conversion of the original potting shed and offers a unique holiday experience. Good accomodation in a great location. If you want a quiet relaxing holiday then this is the place for you. This beautiful setting is peace itself but you are only a short drive to the town of Montrose.

This is an amazing place to stay. Rebuilding of the Garden Rooms was only completed in 2021 and to a very high standard. Kitchen and shower room are especially fabulous and little things like electric blinds in the conservatory & original art work on the walls, say a lot! Incredibly spacious for a 1 bed holiday home, especially the huge conservatory/lounge with outstanding views on 3 sides over the very large & beautifully laid out walled flower and lawned garden. Even though this is shared by 5 holiday let’s we barely saw anybody else during our week. Don’t overlook, like we nearly did, that there’s a seperate large fruit and veg garden through the gates on the South-west side of the main garden. So private and tranquil. We enjoyed the putting green and admired the very good tennis court (bring trainers!). We suspect many visitors are keen walkers, golfers etc, which we are not (although we did visit St Cyrus Bay!). So we were pleased that we found the local area interesting and highly recommend : House of Dun, Drive west to Perthshire (especially Dunkeld), whisky/gin tour at Arbikie Distillery & Glamis Castle (joint ticket from the Distillery!). Fully agree with *personal info removed by Feefo* (the owner) to go for breakfast at The Pavillion in Montrose (best to book). The distillery is great just for lunch in their generous modern restaurant with stunning views out over Lunan Bay (you can book). Bargain of the week goes to Mackays (Mrs Bridges) jams and preserves factory shop. Get your favourites at a fraction of the RRP. James Chalmers Rd, Arbroath - it’s on an industrial estate. Thank you guys for a lovely holiday 👍😄
