Highland Cottage, formerly part of the home farm to the estate, has access to 150 acres of wooded grounds.. Surrounded by 150 acres of glorious wooded grounds, abundant in wildlife. Amidst a glorious landscape of unspoilt wooded glens, fragmented coastline, stunning sea lochs and breathtaking bays, the delightful cottages at Home Farm nestle in the peaceful wooded valley of the River Ruel. The steading and cottages, formerly the home farm to the estate, have been lovingly restored and are very comfortably furnished in contemporary Scottish style. Their spacious courtyard setting affords each of them a sense of privacy and they all boast access to 150 acres of wooded grounds, abundant in bird and wildlife, with free trout and salmon fishing on the Ruel beat owned by Home Farms - the fishing hut provides an ideal picnic spot. One of the most admired views in Scotland, The Kyles of Bute, awaits discovery just 6 miles away, as do the tranquil village of Tighnabruaich’s lovely natural bays, sandy beach, shops, restaurants and 9 hole golf course. Colintraive, 9 miles, offers a pub serving good food and there is a summer shop (limited opening hours) adjacent to Home Farm. Beach 5 miles. Shop 13 miles, pub and restaurant 7 miles..

Trout fly fishing free of charge (1st May - 30th September) with fishing hut and picnic area. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: The property has a natural water supply from a spring. There is an unfenced burn, waterfall and drops in the grounds.
Wifi is available in all properties, except sxxj, the wifi is meshed access, shared across 3 routers due to the layout of the properties.
Due to the remote location please bear in mind that the broadband connection is quite slow, therefore the connection is suitable for browsing only and not suitable for streaming videos.
For property sxxk the wifi connection is available in the upstairs of the cottage, with intermittent access downstairs. We cannot guarantee the wifi facility at all times due to the unpredictability of the service providers.
Children must be supervised on site due to possible safety hazards.
The water is from a spring, well or borehole, and not a mains supply.
There are drops in the garden.
There is open water in the property grounds.

The location of the cottage is superb. Whilst I would recommend the cottage to others, I would not recommend paying the premium price that I did. This is for the following reasons1- It was stated that the cottage would be cleaned and sanitised before my arrival…it was not. The dining area table was sticky and had food remains upon the surface.2- The lounge area had clearly not been hoovered…. I did it myself and in doing so found a dog toy under the lounge area coffee table…..so much for sanitisation!!!3- I noticed that literature left in the property asks for guests to ensure the fire place is free from ash and left ready for another fire to be set. This had also not been checked as the ash pan was full and unidentifiable remains of a previous fire lay in the fire grate.4- The literature also asks that guests clean surfaces down before departure, I did this after purchasing a bottle of my own cleaning product, as the one under the sink in the property was empty!5- I am unsure what constitutes a welcome pack at the property…. An A4 sheet of paper and 2 packets of biscuits each containing 2 biscuits hardly cuts it when paying a premium for a stay in a 4 star cottage.In summary I have the following recommendations to the property owners1- Sack the cleaner….they are not completing Tasks that you pay them for.2- Seriously think about the welcome package, given that guests cannot arrive until 16 00hrs, a pint of milk and a loaf of bread are things requiring little effort, but make a big impact upon first arrival. I know that the cottage is self catering, but it is marketed at the higher end of this pricing standard.3- Ensure that property managers are contactable, as the area has very limited phone signal and I was unable to make any contact in order to resolve my issues whilst I was a guest.That will be all.

Get away and relax in the countryside. You are in woodland and fields with a waterfall across you can see from the window. Not far down the country roads are different lochs to visit with a nice pubs nearby.

Part of a small group of cottages on the same site, the Highland Cottage is well equipped and provides a comfortable place for a family to stay. The nearest local ammenities are approximately 20 mins drive away, but you can get everything you need.
