Guests find The Prince comfortable and roomy, with a cosy wood-burning stove and a comfy bed. The unique accommodation is well-equipped, though one guest mentioned the challenge of low beams for taller individuals.

The town of Dunoon is nearby and offers a good center for shopping, leisure facilities, and a small cinema.

The Argyll Forest, part of the simply gorgeous Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, is on the doorstep and has numerous forest tracks, marked walks, cycleways, and wonderful waterfalls to explore. For those a bit more adventurous, the ferry at Colintraive to Rhubodach takes only 3 minutes to cross the sea loch and arrive on the Isle of Bute, a famous tourist destination over the years with many attractions such as Mount Stuart House and Gardens, as well as the Victorian seaside resort of Rothesay. Loch Fyne with its famous restaurant and oyster bar is not far away, as is Inveraray; both great for a day trip. Beach 10 miles.

An absolutely wonderful 4 nights in this lovely historic boat. This was a gift for my husband’s birthday and he loved it. It was comfortable and cosy and quirky. The quiet location, excellent walks and close proximity to Bute was brilliant. We loved every minute of it!

Charming, homely, historic, a one-off, The Prince is ideally situated for exploring the joys of the Cowal Peninsula and beyond. Very good village store 15 minutes away in Kames and fresh fish, produce, delicatessen and restaurant 35 mins to The Oyster Bar on the road to Inveraray. (Go straight to jail!) I went on up to Kilmartin Glen and the excellent Kilmartin Museum. I was delighted to find the relaunched Art Gallery and contemporary art initiative in Tighnabruaich. Otter Ferry, with its Oyster Catcher restaurant is a favourite haunt. In my late seventies, I'm just getting used to solo holidays and this was perfect, supported by the warm welcome of Angus and Lynette.
