Tower Lodge is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its idyllic location and comfortable accommodation. Guests have enjoyed the property's proximity to scenic spots and local amenities, as well as the thoughtful touches provided by the owners. While most reviews highlight the cleanliness and the range of facilities, a few guests noted areas for improvement in maintenance and seating for larger groups.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though there were isolated comments about the need for a deeper clean and issues with pet hair. These were exceptions rather than the rule, hence the high score.
The location is consistently lauded for its beauty and convenience for exploring the surrounding areas. The proximity to Loch Awe and local walks, as well as the peaceful setting, contribute to the high score.
Guests have found the accommodation very comfortable, with special mentions of the beds and pillows. Some concerns were raised about the amount of seating for larger parties, which slightly affects the score.
The lodge is well-equipped with a variety of facilities that guests appreciated, including a wood burner and bird feeder. However, some guests encountered issues with specific appliances and suggested improvements, leading to a slightly lower score.
Many guests mentioned the thoughtful touches such as treats on arrival and the provision of waterproofs, which enhanced their stay. It should be noted that while these gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed for every visit.
Tower Lodge is a superb detached cottage, located in the pretty village of Lochawe, situated just above the loch of the same name. Kick off your boots and coats, leave them in the porch area by the front door and walk through to the open-plan living space. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating for four adults to curl up of an evening while watching your favourite shows, with the delightful woodburning stove to keep you warm during those chilly winter months. For the children, there is room to join the adults in the living room but the large downstairs bunk bedroom has a couch, TV, and DVD player to keep them entertained in their own space. The dining area comfortably seats four adults and makes for a wonderful social space to enjoy your delicious home-cooked meals, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, with all modern appliances on-hand. The dining table can be folded out for up to six (there are two other chairs in other rooms; plus two fold out chairs in the cupboard). Follow the stairs up to the first floor, where the remaining two bedrooms are located, consisting of a spacious twin room and a double bedroom which opens directly onto the balcony overlooking the Loch through the woodland. The family bathroom offers a bath and electric shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day or freshen up after a day in the Scottish hills. Outside has a well-kept garden with a sheltered west-facing stone area with a bench and chiminea, so you can sit out by the fire enjoying the country views through the woodland across to St Conan’s tower. While you're in the area, take the time to visit the wonderful ruined structure of Kilchurn Castle, which dates back to the mid-15th century and offers stunning views across the loch, or the quirky St Conan’s Kirk built in medieval style in the late 1800s. For those sporty types, visit the mountain of Ben Cruachan, which has opportunities for climbing and hiking. Due to its rural location, you are ideally placed for walking and cycling opportunities, with scenic views all round. Take advantage of Loch Awe, the third largest freshwater lake in Scotland, which is on your doorstep and enjoy some fishing or hire a boat. The welcoming Cruachan Inn is a convenient 10 minutes’ walk away offering excellent food. Travel a few miles to Dalmally Golf Club, which has a 9-hole course, suitable for amateurs and professionals alike. Visit the towns of Oban and Inverary, which are both only 45 minutes away, or drive less than an hour to beautiful Glen Orchy or dramatic Glen Coe. So much to do in this remote location, you won't want to miss it! Tower Lodge is the perfect choice for a relaxing break to the countryside. EPC Rating: Band E

Very warm and cosy! The area is of outstanding beauty. Tower Lodge of course is a cosy retreat! Clean and ready for your next holiday! A Nuthatch appeared at the bird feeder. Bring your own feed, seed, balls, nuts. There wasn't any provided and the feeder needed uncloging. Great holiday!!

Clean, tidy and cosy (once the vagaries of a rogue storage heater were promptly remedied following two phone calls to the owner and access gained to the wood store). Well located for visiting the region enabling us to have an enjoyable break in a part of Scotland we hadn't visited for over 30 years.

Had a wonderful trip made all the better with the excellent home comforts provided by the Lodge. Would highly recommend both the Tower Lodge and the beautiful surrounding areas with many interesting and scenic activities.
