We absolutely adore Drimfern and the surrounding area. The house as always is warm, welcoming and an ideal base for travelling further afield. This was our fourth visit, we have rebooked and we are very happy to return because the cottage is beautiful. We generally ignore harsh, negative reviews however, we have to agree that the standard of cleaning has fallen off dramatically since our first visit. Worktops, kitchen sink and oven doors were dirty on arrival. Windows were smeared in hand and fingerprints which was visible from the car when parking on the driveway. We don't wear shoes inside the house, but on the day of arrival and within only a few hours we all had filthy socks. No mop head had been left in order that we could clean the floors. Pink mold was visible on the shower floor and sink. Shower head was covered in black mold. The hose on the en-suite shower has been needing replaced since our first visit as it is broken and is just a harbour for bacteria. Heavy levels of dust on all of the furniture and literal tumbleweeds of dust, animal hair and detritus on all of the sockets, behind the bedside units and on the tall radiator in the kitchen. Fridge and freezer were still filthy from the previous guest. Unfortunately there was no number available to contact the owners or we would have informed them directly. Cottages.com customer service just rang out on the Saturday afternoon so we made do. It was however a disappointing start to a much looked forward to holiday. The missing blinds in the kitchen and dining area made for an uncomfortable stay, as without them there is no privacy in the evenings when the lights are on and pedestrians on the footpath can see in. There is also the sound of loud running water coming from the plumbing as if there is an overflow draining constantly. This did lead to a very unsettled sleepless night for us all on one evening. We hope the owners can put it right before our next stay. We are reasonable people, and would happily wait an extra hour to enter the property at 4pm instead of 3pm if it means that the property can be throughly cleaned between lets. All of that said, Drimfern is a beautiful house in an idyllic location that we simply adore. We know the owners will get this right.

2nd time staying here and hopefully won't be our last. Cottage has all you could ask for a home from home experience. Lovely, peaceful location but Dunoon is just a 15min drive for more amenities. Great being able to walk to the gorgeous Benmore Botanical Gardens which serves great coffee, cake and snacks.

We had a really great time here. The accommodation although could do with a few bits upgraded or renewed was really nice. Comfortable beds, equipped really well and in a beautiful location. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever and I'm just looking at Christmas prices to go back! Would highly recommend it, myself my partner and 4 children will be back.
