We had a lovely time in Scotland - the lodge was comfortable, if a little chilly. But the fire soon warmed up the front room. Each bedroom had heaters that we used. Saying that it was April so was not too warm.Sitting in the front room we had a perfect view of the bird feeder, which as long as it was filled, had plenty of visitors. And we saw plenty of bats at dusk. We were also lucky to see a red squirrel or two as we walked up to see Puck Glen (which, unfortunately, is closed due to storm damage). You can follow the path behind the lodges to Benmore Botancial Gardens and there are two hikes through the forest behind the lodges as well. All in all a good base for hiking and seeing wildlife.

Lodge is nice enough, bit close to the main road, but comfortable and plenty of space. Heating isn't great, but we were never freezing, just have to have all extra heaters on if it's in any way chilly outside (it's Scotland, so this is basically all the time).Floor in the main bedroom is damaged with some of the laminate sticking up, which is a trip hazard and don't walk around barefoot in there unless you want broken toes.Dishwasher was out of order and looked like it had been for some time and the hot water tap in the kitchen also doesn't work, so have to boil the kettle every time you want to wash up (which is extra annoying with a small kettle that is also partly broken - lid pops up constantly, so you have to wedge it shut to get it to boil properly). Reported the tap via a reply to the welcome text we received, but never got a response. Baking tray and grill tray that were in the oven were filthy (tray was full of congealed fat and god knows what else).Oven kind of works, but is very slow and never quite seems to get to temperature, so can't trust it to cook anything properly.Hot water tap in the bathroom is also very temperamental and takes a lot of patience to get hot water and leaks if you move the body of the tap.On the plus side, the wi-fi is very good.

Our family of 5 and our dog spent a week at the lodge. It is a very pleasant location as a starting point for hiking and discovering the Dunoon region. We asked for a late checkout but could not get an answer in time. Not a big isue but I wasnt sure how to properly contact the owner. The nights were pretty cold and the lodge is not well insulated nor heated, bring warm clothes! Apart from that, its a lovely place to stay!
