Comfortably sleeping up to six guests across the three well-appointed bedrooms, this traditional Argyll cottage forms the perfect base for friends, family or three couples.
Set across just one floor, guests can relax whilst enjoying each other’s company. Imagine cooking up a feast in the well-equipped, newly refurbished kitchen, opening a bottle of wine (or two) before heading into the dining room. The dining room features a beautiful, large, wooden table that comfortably seats six guests. If al-fresco dining is more your style, make the most of the barbeque, outdoor table and chairs and enjoy the sound of birdsong or watching the night stars. Venture back inside and sink into the plush sofa in front of the roaring fire, ready to watch your favourite film. This property has been freshly released on the market, having been refurbished by the new owners.
After a long day packed full of adventure, head down the corridor to find the relaxing master bedroom with a lovely shower ensuite. You will also find a comfortable double bedroom and a cosy twin bedroom - ideal for children to share. Alternatively, this can always be made up into a king-sized bed. The modern bathroom with a shower and bath makes the perfect shared bathroom.
Embrace the mornings during your stay, make the most of the Nespresso coffee machine and meander your way through the lush garden. Climb up the steep garden steps to reach the summer house. Here you will experience absolute peace and serenity, looking out over the Holy Loch, the River Eachaig and the Glen Massan Valley. These spectacular views will make your stay even more memorable.

Holly Trees Lodge is located in Kilmun, a linear village hugging the northern shoreline of the Holy Loch, just north of Dunoon on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula. Holly Trees Lodge offers the perfect distinguished base for those wanting to visit the vast and varied delights of the local area. Walk the banks of Loch Eck, take a trip to Ardentinny Beach or challenge friends to a round of golf at Blairmore and Strone Golf Course, just a short drive away. Take a wander through Benmore Botanic Gardens or Puck's Glen. For those up for a challenge, the choice for hikes is never-ending. A 3 km step climb up the peak behind Kilmun, which offers superb views over the Firth of Clyde and its sea lochs or a more lengthy 13 km strenuous hike up the Cowal Peninsula’s highest peak. We encourage you to make the most of your local host who is a qualified hiking guide and fitness/pilates teacher!
Visiting Historic Kilmun is a unique experience. Founded by the Celtic monk St Fintan Munnu, the village was a monastic community in the 7th century. Remains of a 12th century church can still be seen today so it is worth the visit. In the 15th century, the sanctity of the site was so great that the loch was named Holy Loch.
The Kilmun Arboretum sits immediately above Holly Trees Lodge. You can find the entrance to the Arboretum just a short walk along the road in Kilmun. Follow one of the three Forestry Commission Scotland trails from the village to Kilmun Arboretum. In the 1930s, the forestry research project set out to monitor the success of a variety of exotic tree species. As a result of this, Kilmun Arboretum is now home to more than 150 species of trees from around the world. Meander through its small forests of silver firs, giant sequoia, coastal redwoods, Oregon maple and Chilean southern beech and you'll wonder why it isn't better known.
Take a trip to the beautiful and peaceful Loch Eck and the oak woodland to the west of the Loch. This area is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (sssi). Here, you may spot otters, eagles and ravens, bats, roe deer, red deer, red squirrels, pine-martens, seals, eider ducks and many other species. Be sure to visit Coylet Inn and appreciate magnificent Loch views while enjoying a cool beer and some fresh seafood, wild venison or game!
