About this property

Torr Beag is a contemporary, detached holiday cottage in Tayvallich, a charming harbour village on the shore of Loch Sween. Situated in a small, secluded development made up of a handful of properties, with a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, it is a wonderful place to stay for friends and families exploring the Argyll and Bute region of Western Scotland. Inside the cottage is a bright sitting room with a woodburner-style electric stove, where you can relax and put your feet up after a good, long walk exploring this stunning region - admire the beautiful wood mantle, carved by a local man in the village above the stove while you’re here. Similar details can also be found in the spacious kitchen/diner, adding a lovely homely feel to the property where you can rustle up delicious home-cooked meals for you to enjoy over sociable dinner parties. From here, there are double doors leading outside onto a charming patio, a perfect spot for a spot of alfresco dining, whilst the neighbour's pretty terrace garden provides good privacy and, as the space is a nice little sun trap, it makes a wonderful spot to enjoy breakfast on summer mornings. Find a family bathroom on the ground floor where you can unwind with a bubble bath, as well as a double bedroom with a clever, compact en-suite shower room. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, a spacious master bedroom with views of the surrounding countryside, as well as a twin room. Although Torr Beag is only a short walk from the harbour, shops and inn in Tayvallich, you can enjoy peace and quiet, and the pretty sound of birdsong whilst sitting outside, there’s also a welcoming pub if you fancy an evening meal out of the kitchen. A short walk from the property, away from Tayvallich village, is a wonderful beach called Carsaig Bay and you can also easily visit the Isle of Jura, with fast ferry crossings available across Jura Sound. Enjoy walking and fishing on the Crinan Canal or explore the castle ruins at Kilmartin just a short drive away, finding a plethora of adventure opportunities along the Knapdale Peninsula. Alternatively, catch a ferry over to the wild island of Jura, located off the mainland's west coast, home to imposing mountains, flavoursome whisky, and spiraling whirlpools, or venture further afield into mainland Scotland and visit Loch Lomond or the Trossachs National Park. Other attractions worth a visit include McCaig's Tower, Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds and guided tours of Oban Distillery at Oban resort town, as well as a wider selection of amenities to choose from. A wonderful holiday home for exploring this beautiful corner of Scotland.

Situated on the Knapdale Peninsula to the west of Scotland, in the region known as Argyll and the Isles, Tayvallich is this charming harbour village with a good selection of shops and pubs. The towns name has Gaelic origins, and translates to 'the house of the pass'. It sits on the shore of Loch Sween in a horseshoe bay surrounded by woodland. Other nearby hotspots include Arichonan, Crinan, Kilmartin, and Oban.
