The house is situated in the scenic Lerags Glen ensuring peace and privacy but is still less than 3 miles from the vibrant harbour town of Oban, with views across open farmland and walks from the door. Within the same site there is a small children’s play area and The Barn, a rustic pub with plenty of character (open all year but restricted hours over the winter) . A good place to catch up over a drink and tasty local fare following the days adventures.
Oban, known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland, has a wide range of seafood & fish restaurants and an excellent fish shop if you wish to cook your own. A visit to the Green Seafood Shack on the quayside is a must for those who love their shellfish. The town is otherwise known as the Gateway to the Isles with the Calmac ferry terminal giving access to trips to Mull, Colonsay, Tiree, Lismore and Barra.
The town has an array of independent shops, including the must visit Oban Chocolate Shop, Oban Distillery, a selection of supermarkets, a cinema, golf course, swimming pool and a selection of other land and water-based sports facilities. With its own sandy beach for those looking for a traditional ‘seaside holiday’, numerous historical sites within easy reach including Dunstaffnage Castle, Inveraray Jail and for the horticulturist’s visits to Inveraray Castle & Gardens and Arduaine Gardens are a must. There really is plenty for all ages to explore.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cologin Farmhouse: the house was comfortable and we - my husband, our four children (aged 12-20) and my mother - felt at home there. The hot tub was great when it got going. Katie, the manager, was friendly and responsive. The surroundings were lovely, and we had a really nice walk to the loch. We also went to the bar and had a good time there and in the garden outside. Oban was only a 10 minutes drive away. It all worked out very well for us.
