Annan 3.5 miles. A charming terraced cottage, in the rural hamlet of Powfoot, near Annan, on Scotlands beautiful Solway Coast. With stunning views over the beach, towards the Lake District, this lovely coastal cottage is ideal for a family looking for a break away by the sea. There are two bedrooms, a twin and a king-size double, the larger of which enjoys superb coastal views across the sea to the Lakes and beyond. The ground floor comprises of a comfortable sitting room, which also faces the coast, complemented by a warming woodburning stove, and theres also a well-equipped kitchen with a dining area. The handy lockable bike storage and the enclosed garden are across an access road, so care should be taken when stepping out of the rear door. Once you reach the garden youll find a lawned area where the children can play in safety and you can enjoy a barbecue for those hazy summer days. You've also got a front garden with a lovely decked area and superb south-facing coastal views. This beachfront cottage sits across the road from Powfoot Beach, a striking stretch of sand and shingle, perfect for paddling, with a local coastal footpath nearby. Access to the beach directly in front of the property is via rough, narrow, tracks which can be slippy in some conditions, so care should be taken. Easier access to the shore can be found a couple of hundred metres further west. There's also plenty of birdlife to observe at the splendid Caerlaverlock Castle and Nature Reserve. There is a shop at Queensberry Bay Holiday Park, less than a mile away along the coast, where you can pick up essentials for picnics, whilst the on-site spa is open to non-residents should you wish to indulge in a treatment or two. The town of Annan is 3.5 miles away and boasts a multitude of amenities, as well as a rich history dating back to Roman times, whilst Powfoot Golf Club offers an ideal mix of parkland and links holes, nestled within breathtaking scenery. Cyclists can enjoy some of the renowned 7stanes mountain biking trails, as well as Sustrans Cycle Route 7, taking in miles and miles of beautiful scenery. Situated on the banks of the River Annan, the historic town of Annan was once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle. In honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V, every year, the town celebrates with parades, massed pipe bands and competitions. Many small towns, villages, hamlets and stunning sandy beaches make up the area around the town. Further afield are the city of Glasgow, the abbeys of Melrose and Jedburgh, plus the northern part of the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall. Annan and the surrounding area are a perfect base, at any time of the year.

A quiet retreat, with the only intrusive sounds coming from the wading birds at dusk. The property had everything we needed, it is warm and comfortable, lots of local information and with places to sit in the sun for morning coffee and afternoon tea. Thank you.

tea/coffee/milk all provided. easy to park in the private space behind the property. spectacular views of the solway firth. enclosed private garden at the rear and enclosed from garden with the fantastic view. nice location in a small hamlet with easy access to annan/ dumfries/ gretna and beyond. we also went to glasgow and ayr which each took about 2 hours. highly recommend.
