A delightfully situated, one and a half storey, traditional detached house adjacent to the 18thC former Lochpatrick Mill. The house stands in its own spacious garden grounds with tennis court and bowls lawn in a very private and secluded location yet only ten minutes' drive from the bustling market town of Castle Douglas and easy reach of the wonderful Solway Coast with quiet secluded beaches and awe inspiring cliff walks.
Well equipped, cosy, book-lined and comfortably furnished with full central heating and an open fire, the house makes an ideal holiday base either for exploring the rich history and hills of the surrounding area or for relaxing in. The house has attractive, well maintained gardens which include a small bowling green and a separate tennis court, both available for use by holidaymakers. In addition, there is free perch and pike fishing for house guests on two small lochs a pleasant five and ten minute walk away respectively.
Served by a quiet country road, ideal for walking or cycling, the house is only a few minutes' drive from the A75 Stranraer to Carlisle trunk road. The villages of Springholm with a village shop and Crocketford, with both a pub, which serves meals and a village shop, are within a ten minute drive. Castle Douglas, the Food Town, provides excellent shopping with a number of hotels, pubs and restaurants. The Solway coast, with its wonderful scenery and extensive sandy beaches, is within a half hour's drive and there are a number of excellent, and in some cases testing, golf courses all within easy access, including the championship links course at Southerness.

Beautiful cottage and idyllic setting, garden was fabulous and hosted our sports day, the area is so quiet and barely saw any cars, the rooms were lovely and the kitchen and living area were amazing and spacious. The views from the kitchen were brilliant and all of our dogs had a fabulous time exploring in the garden, the tennis court was brilliant and all of the equipment was supplied, fantastic holiday and a beautiful cottage, we cannot wait to return!!!

A lovely place, superbly equipped, with more books than you could read in a year. Supermarket in Castle Douglas open till late 7 days a week, compensating for the few gaps in the supplies. E.g. more spices than you would ever think of, but no oil; excellent dishwasher and washing machine, but no tablets; no bin liners. Excellent restaurant Mr Pooks in Castle Douglas - you should be able to afford it at least once. Note that the beds downstairs are a bit to a lot hard, maybe ask for a softer mattress? You should not need to leave, but if you do, note that Kirkcudbright is lovely with a variety of choice for food, but with Wigtown you go for the books and the lasagne and chips. If you can work out what the actual recycling arrangements are (they give 3 versions) you're a better person than I am. The Wifi is good but does not penetrate to the downstairs double bedroom - there are amplifiers plugged in but no idea how to use them.
