My husband and I and our dog had a lovely time at Buckle House, after the festive period. It really is a home from home with everything you could need for a break away. The property sits on the Main Street, but no noise or traffic can be heard. The property benefits from two sitting rooms and we used the back room next to kitchen and therefore it is extremely quiet. The bed was comfy and linen/towels all good. The house has 2 large bedrooms and smaller for children with bunks, so overall a fabulous family house. The kitchen/diner was fabulous for space and I particularly loved mornings sitting at table drinking my coffee watching the birds. The house is perfect also for dogs as gate at end of garden straight into park area, Louie my border loved all the trees as he loves squirrels lol. The house is so well situated for convenience stores and perfect for dinner at local pubs. The area around Gatehouse is easily accessible by car and I particularly love the Market town of Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas. Thank you again to Nikki for very appreciated welcome pack (biscuits were fab). We loved Buckle House and have booked again for later on in year.

Think we went on the coldest day of the year. Kitchen was very cold. Very exposed and was wondering what it was like on a hot day. Faced east so could be ok. Anyway, we closed door as we eat out. Rest of house was cosy and warm.. door to bottom bathroom stuck a bit. Didn’t know what was behind the door at first until hubby got it opened. Path out of back door leading to park was lovely. Dogs loved park. Plenty of space for every dog! Hubby a bit unsteady on his feet as waiting for an operation. Better access down at SPA shop.. on that note this is the best SPA shop I have ever been in. Plenty of places to eat out. Even in January when we were there. A word of caution. We went to visit a couple of places that said they were open. Check before you go. They were closed! Dog's were well provided for. Water bowls, towel and treats. Remember your poo bags! This property is well worth a visit!

Our second stay at Buckle House and again we had a relaxing stay in a fabulous property. It has all you need including a lovely welcome pack of bread, milk, biscuits and everything you need for a brew. There are dog treats and bowls too.If you like bird watching then take some bird seed as you have a good view out of the large kitchen window and it’s entertaining to see. . You can leave the car outside and make the most of the great walks, the park is just through the back gate and it’s great for children with lots of new play equipment. The local pubs and coffee shops serve excellent food and welcome your dogs too. Lastly I have to say the owners are really helpful if you need to ask anything and I would highly recommend a stay at Buckle House.
