Those looking for testing bike trails can enjoy the Forestry Commission 7Stanes Routes with the chance to try a different trail on every day of the week! Sea and loch sailing is available in the near vicinity with the principal base being Kippford for sea sailing whilst Loch Ken provides opportunities for sailing and water skiing. Throughout the area there is sea, loch and course fishing and also, of course, golf with courses to suit all abilities with the charming Colvend course being with in walking distance and only slightly further afield is the challenging Southerness Championship Links Course (Seven miles).

Very comfortable and cosy accommodation. The central heating was programmed to come on several times a day. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bedrooms. Beautiful scenery and excellent walks in the area. Discover Scotland staff were most helpful when booking. The staff in the local shop in Colvend were also very helpful.

We had a great holiday , the cottage was lovely and provided us with everything we needed. The views were fantastic with the balcony providing us the pleasure of watching the moon rise and shimmering on the sea. Really pleasant walks down to the beach and very friendly people who passed the time of day and chatted to us making our stay great .Dumfries museums well worth a visit along with Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie.
