Uplands is a beautiful, detached cottage set quietly on the fringes of the town and ideally placed for a wander into the centre with its many cafés, restaurants and shops, and also ideally placed to explore the wider area by car. Uplands has undergone a complete refurbishment in 2020 and is beautifully decorated throughout. The open plan living space is the hub of the cottage and is a very sociable space to sit and relax over a glass of wine or a meal. For those of a competitive nature, the garden also includes a giant chess game! The large wood burner is the focal point of this lovely space and perfect for those chillier evenings.
The area surrounding Uplands is a joy to discover. There are various and varied walks available, from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails. For the biking enthusiasts you have the world class Dalbeattie 7Stanes mountain trail on your doorstep, as well as Mabie Forest. It is a popular location for mountain bikers of all levels. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust), historical sites and castles to explore. Discover the Solway Coast with its extensive sandy beaches, rocky coves, traditional fishing villages and harbour ports such as Kippford and Rockcliffe. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Had a great stay at Uplands. house is well equipped and within an easy walk into the village main street where there is a variety of places to eat. Castle Douglas is a 15 minute drive away for a greater selection of shops including Aldi, Tesco and B&M plus an array of local shops. lots to see and do in the local area and slightly further afield with Kipford beach being a particular highlight.

Stayed for a weekend break and all good! Spacious, clean cottage, great location only ten minutes walk to town. Owners have great communication and very helpful too. Would definitely recommend and stay again

The cottage was lovely and clean. Had all the equipment and the log fire was great. The welcome pack was very kind and the milk in the fridge was so helpful. We could have a cuppa before our shop came. The local area and walks were really good. Thanks for a lovely time and for your help with any issues we had. Would book again.
