Uplands is a beautiful, detached cottage set quietly on the fringes of the town and ideally placed for a wander into the centre with its many cafés, restaurants and shops, and also ideally placed to explore the wider area by car. Uplands has undergone a complete refurbishment in 2020 and is beautifully decorated throughout. The open plan living space is the hub of the cottage and is a very sociable space to sit and relax over a glass of wine or a meal. For those of a competitive nature, the garden also includes a giant chess game! The large wood burner is the focal point of this lovely space and perfect for those chillier evenings.
The area surrounding Uplands is a joy to discover. There are various and varied walks available, from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails. For the biking enthusiasts you have the world class Dalbeattie 7Stanes mountain trail on your doorstep, as well as Mabie Forest. It is a popular location for mountain bikers of all levels. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust), historical sites and castles to explore. Discover the Solway Coast with its extensive sandy beaches, rocky coves, traditional fishing villages and harbour ports such as Kippford and Rockcliffe. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Wonderful, clean, spacious and quiet detached house with all the amenities you need plus lots of crockery and cooking implements should you need them. Clear and easy directions, decent parking although not for a very large vehicle. Just off major A road into Dumfries and all directions from there. Local shops are good and there is on the street parking for these. Great communication from owner, highly recommend.

A comfy cottage which was a great base for a two-week relaxing holiday. Everything we needed was provided and the welcome pack was a great touch, especially the milk in the fridge - very welcome for a cuppa on arrival after a long drive up! There's a great many walks and hikes in the area and many attractions too - Bainloch Deer Park is excellent and Loch Arthur Farm Shop is a must visit. Culzean is well worth the drive as is Mull of Galloway and Logan Botanical Gardens as well as Threave and Mossburn Community Farm! We will definitely be back for more.

We had a lovely 2 week stay! The inside is beautiful and I think the pictures don’t do it justice. The kitchen had everything needed for a longer stay so cooking was easy. Having the porch and wet room at the back of the property was very handy after beach days with our young boys. They loved the chess set in the garden, although the patio slabs on the edge of it were a bit wobbly! The side garden was a great green space for the kids to run around, but just be aware if you have toddlers there isn’t a gate at the top of the steps to the small car parking area. It’s only a 10 minute drive to local beaches and five minutes to a beautiful forest walk in Dalbeattie woods. Overall it was very comfortable and an ideal base for exploring the wider area! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend for a family holiday.
