Belmont Cottage offers cosy accommodation in a quiet and private location close Dumfries town centre has to offer including many historical links to both Scotland’s bloody past through Robert the Bruce and culture with Peter Pan and Robert Burns trails to enjoy.
Belmont Cottage offers cosy accommodation in a quiet and private location but is only a short walk to all that Dumfries town centre has to offer. The town has many links with Scotland’s past through Robert the Bruce and with its culture through Robert Burns and Peter Pan. Robert Burns, Scotland’s national Bard, lived, worked and is buried in the town. As a schoolboy, J.M. Barrie played in the garden of Moat Brae House, the inspiration for the story of Peter Pan. The House, garden and cafe are open to the public. The River Nith, running through the town, is lined by walks through attractive green spaces, most notably Dock Park and Castledykes Park with its secret sunken garden.
The cottage is a conversion from a former coach house and provides a luxurious holiday base fully equipped for quiet nights in after a day of exploring. Alternatively, there are restaurants, pubs, take-aways and food outlets in and around the town.
Dumfries is well-placed to enjoy all kinds of opportunities that this beautiful and unspoiled region of the country has to offer. It has hills, forests, beaches, great places for mountain-biking and cycling, and coastal walks that offer many opportunities for wildlife-watching. There are numerous gardens that can be visited, historical ruins such as castles and abbeys, and small, charming towns and villages in the Region.

We enjoyed our stay in Belmont Cottage. In the grounds ot the big house, parking, outside area to sit and enjoy the evening sun. Bedrooms very comfortable with plenty of space for your clothing etc. The sitting room/ dining area had all you needed and had lots of books and maps which were very useful. The bathroom was downstairs too, but great care had been taken to ensure that there was solar lighting on the stairs for safety during the night The Owners were very helpful but not intrusive.

My fiancee and I had a wonderful time at Belmont Cottage. It was a nice, quiet, cozy getaway from our normally busy lives. We were able to get the rest we desperately needed. The home is in close walking distance to the town center along with the bus station. We were able to easily walk to the bus and hop onto it to spend time out in Glasgow. Thank you for having us in your cozy cottage!
