The first floor also houses a second living room, where you can unwind while enjoying panoramic views of the shimmering Solway Firth. Clean well equipped house, secure large garden for children/pets and ample on site parking, be aware with small children laundry delivery man left gates open at 7.30am.House warm with no extra heating required, beds really comfy. Only 4 of us so pans etc little on the large side, but plenty utensils overall, oven tends to be cooler than you may expectCheck cat flap we had an unwelcome visitor at 4amBeach rugged and can be very tricky underfoot , not a good area for adults swimming.Owners were very approachable and responded to any contact really promptly. Overall very good value for money for a big house.

"We just returned from an absolutely flawless stay at this stunning cottage in Southerness. With 4 spacious bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, it was perfect for our group and felt incredibly luxurious. The hosts were wonderful and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived.Since we stayed over the holidays, we were greeted by a truly amazing Christmas tree that made the house feel so festive and cozy. The entire place was spotless, well-maintained, and clearly cared for with a lot of love. A true 5-star experience in a beautiful part of Scotland—we couldn’t have asked for more!"

A lovely relaxing holiday in The Quare Place.Comfortable house.2 ground floor en-suite bedrooms great for less able guests.Lovely kitchen diner.Oven a bit erratic- took us a while to gauge cooking times but didn't spoil anything just allowed time for another glass of wine.Word of warning- we heard some scrabbling noises in downstairs lounge - couldn't place it til we saw a birds wing flapping behind glass in the log burner while we sat at breakfast.luckily we had good weather so not needed to light it! Opened patio doors and log burner window and happily bird flew out! Drama over. Southerness is lovely little place.We explored area- kippstone,castle douglas,had meal at steamboat inn just down the coast,sweetheart abbey,went into dumfries as we had a car emergency and we were greatly helped by Steve who worked at the holiday park and got us on road again after battery failure.Much appreciated Steve! There is a fab restaurant in Dumfries called Casa mia if you fancy something special.All in all a great week in a beautiful part of the world.Quiet, peaceful and relaxing- bliss!
