The property is highly recommended for multi-generational stays and those seeking a peaceful rural retreat.

Multiple reviews highlight the property as extremely clean and well-presented, with no significant complaints about cleanliness. Only minor mentions of missing cleaning cloths were noted, but these did not impact overall satisfaction.

The location is consistently praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to both nature and local amenities. Guests love the views, access to walks, and the feeling of being in a remote yet accessible spot.

Guests frequently mention the house as warm, comfortable, and spacious, with cosy features like the Aga and log burners. The property suits all ages and large groups, with comfortable beds and plenty of room.

The house is described as very well equipped, especially the kitchen and bathrooms. Minor suggestions include a larger fridge and a couple of missing kitchen items, and some mention of garden maintenance and the access road, but overall facilities are highly rated.

The owner is noted for being welcoming and helpful, such as returning forgotten items by post. While guests appreciated this thoughtfulness, please note that such gestures are not guaranteed for all stays.

It is also worth taking time to explore the Galloway towns which include Kirkcudbright on the Dee Estuary with it’s artist links to the “Glasgow Boys and Girls” painting schools or a visit to Castle Douglas with it’s busy high street filled with galleries and independent shops.

We had a lively time staying at Ornockenoch house - everything was clean and tidy, the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and bedrooms were comfortable. There was plenty of space in the living room and dining areas as a party of 9. There were excellent views of the loch from the front of the house and it was nice to be surrounded by nature. The owner was easily contactable and any minor issue we had was resolved quickly - I would recommend staying here and would love to go back at some point!
