About this property

Newton Stewart 8.5 miles. Borgan Cottage is a charming remote cottage, nestled in the scenic village of Bargrennan, in Dumfries and Galloway. Surrounded by beautiful forests, in a national Dark Sky area, this welcoming property is the perfect retreat for families wanting to escape reality to the Scottish Highlands. Be enchanted by the views of the great outdoors as you pull up to the home, and head inside and hang up your coats, before making your way into the kitchen/diner where you can pop the kettle on and enjoy a warm cup of tea around the dining table whilst discussing your holiday itinerary. Take your bags through to the homey double bedroom and place your belongings in the spacious storage provided. Guests staying in the ground-floor twin bedroom will be delighted by the short walk to the downstairs bathroom, where they can treat themselves to an afternoon soak in the bath or a thoughtful morning shower. Following a tiring expedition to the local area, allow yourself to rest up on the sofas in the sitting room, where on a cold winter's day you can get nice and toasty by the woodburning stove. Make the most of the conservatory, a bright and airy room that is great for socialising with friends or indulging in a book during some alone time. Step out from the large patio doors and into the garden for a spot of alfresco dining in the summertime. Climb the staircase up to the ample first floor where you will discover a further two bedrooms, one twin and one double, as well as a chill out area, bathroom and plenty of extra storage space. Back outside, you will find an outbuilding containing logs for your woodburning stove, as well as a drying area. A short drive will take you to the Wood of Cree where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll through the largest ancient wood in southern Scotland. For a more challenging walk, visit the stunning Cairnsmore of Fleet, framing unspoilt views across the grassland and purple heather from the summit. Stock up on food and supplies in the burgh town of Newton Stewart where you can also find some delightful eateries and pubs. Here you can immerse yourself in local history with a tour of The Museum Newton Stewart, set inside a disused church, or test your swing with a round of golf at Newton Stewart Golf Club. If an escape to the Scottish countryside is calling your name, stay at Borgan Cottage. EPC Rating: Band E

(the parlour palm is suffering a bit, may not last ) plumbing problem was quickly responded to and didn’t effect our enjoyment. Absolutely fantastic location , great for our dog.Kitchen door was easily opened by our cocker spaniel so we brought her car crate in for nights. Overall extremely happy with this property and planning to return.

The pictures of this place do not do it enough justice, so much room and it feels so homely too. I am sure we will go back again in the not too distant future. Thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful cottage for our holidays, we've made some great memories here.

Particularly liked sitting in the conservatory with a coffee and watching the birds in the garden. There is loads to do in the area, with walking from the cottage as the road is very quiet. Easy to access the Southern Upland Way, or Wood of Cree. Newton Stewart has lots of independent little shops.
