Bargaly was once the home of the famous horticulturist Andrew Heron and dates back to 1675. The estate feels like a million miles from anywhere, yet Newton Stewart is within a 5-mile drive. The area is a wildlife haven for deer, red squirrels, and birds and their presence just makes a holiday here feel very special. For fishermen daily and weekly fishing permits can be purchased from the estate manager for fishing the estate’s 5½ mile stretch of the Palnure Burn. Shop, pub and restaurant 5 miles

Amazing find! Quiet, yet surrounded by wildlife. Too many bird species to mention visited bird table from early morning till dusk. Squirrel visted bird table too- knocking off a hanging seed container looking for peanuts. Badger demolished bird table too looking for suet pellets .Many local places of interest too, including a beach within easy reach by car as mixed weather. Lack of wifi when in cottage an advantage as less time spent on phone/tablet. Listened to radio and dogs got more exercise and attention ! Wonderful hosts in Jean and Peter - place very clean and goodies left appreciated. Sad to leave looking forward to next time.
