The Hen Hoose is in a beautiful setting in it's own large grounds with ample on site parking. Although advertised as 'cosy' there is space for two adults plus a small dog in the small living/dining area with a good sized kitchen. Upstairs has a long passage with two decent sized bedrooms leading off each with skylights. For those who frequently visit the toilet during the night, the downstairs position of the small bathroom may be a problem and those with mobility issues may find access to the shower over the bath difficult. However the shower is good and also the stairs are easy to negotiate. Dog walkers will love the amount of land they can walk on and also the mile long path to Newton Stewart is very easy walking. Wifi can be intermittent but that is acknowledged by the owner, who is very welcoming. The welcome pack has enough milk for tea and breakfast for a couple of days, there is also tea, coffee and sugar. The water and heating is on a timed system, but there is also a booster if required. We loved our stay at Nether Barr - didn't want to leave! We ate at The Crown in Newton Stewart and found the meals very good.
