This seaside retreat was once a working herring smokery and now offers a relaxed base for up to six guests looking for a peaceful getaway. It sits in the historic town of Dunbar, known for its stunning seaside scenery, panoramic beaches, busy fishing harbours, and the ruins of a castle that was once the most important in Scottish history. Belhaven Bay and Whitesands are great choices for those seeking to get sand between their toes, while avid walkers can join the coastal path for wildlife spotting or rambles into the Lammermuir Hills. Another popular wildlife haven is John Muir Country Park (1.5 miles), or you can join the Bass Rock boat trips, where passengers can gaze upon the largest Northern gannet colony in the world. If you want to stretch your wings even further, Edinburgh is just a 20 minute train ride away.
Arriving at this delightful period seaside home, you are given a warm welcome by an attractive stair hall, inviting you to explore the two levels of this super holiday house. The light and bright lounge has wonderful sea views, a cosy gas/coal effect stove, a Smart TV, and DVD player; books and games provide nights of entertainment for all the family. Off the lounge, with double doors to the garden, lies the snug, with even more mesmerising sea views, a wood burner and a desk for checking those pesky emails. If you are settling in for the evening, there is a well-equipped, stylish kitchen with everything you need for simple, informal cooking. Beside this is the lovely dining room with seating for six and direct access to the garden. Heading upstairs, you will discover three gorgeous rustic bedrooms with chunky wood framed beds and neutral colours. Decide on the king-size, the twin or the double bedroom, and enjoy a good night's sleep. Finishing off this floor is the bathroom with a bath with shower over, basin and WC.
Heading outside from any of the downstairs rooms, you will find an enclosed garden with a seating area and picnic table so you can absorb the beautiful sea views and enjoy alfresco dining. Pet hens might pop by for a chat! Parking is on-street or in a free public car park opposite the property.
