Guests have found the cottage in Edinburgh to be a charming and well-equipped home away from home. It is praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and comfortable beds. The location is appreciated for its proximity to local amenities and the city centre, with good public transport links. The property is described as quiet, cosy, and better than a hotel, making it a preferred choice for both family and business stays.
The property consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests noting it as clean and well-maintained. One mention of a minor issue with a stinky dish towel does not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback.
The location is generally well-regarded due to its convenience to shops, public transport, and the city centre. However, some guests noted the need for multiple buses or Ubers to reach the centre, slightly affecting the score.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the house spacious, contributing to a pleasant stay. The only drawback mentioned is the small bathroom, which can be inconvenient for larger groups.
Facilities like a washing machine, dishwasher, and fully equipped kitchen are positively mentioned. However, there are some comments about maintenance issues such as dirty and jammed windows, and a lack of toiletries, which suggests room for improvement.
There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Situated in the small village of Danderhall, offering spacious Visit Scotland 4 star graded accommodation for up to 6 people. The property is an ideal base from which to explore not only the town of Dalkeith, just a 10-minute drive away, but also the historic city of Edinburgh which is half an hour away. The fabulous Firth of Forth coast has super beaches and lots to discover all the way from Musselburgh down to North Berwick and Dunbar.
Dalkeith is an excellent base for holidays with its Country Park making a fantastic day out for families and couples alike offering walks, cycling (bike hire available) fishing and bush craft activities and also operating as a working farm, the land is home to an abundance of wildlife including otters, badgers, hares and migratory birds, all of which can be experienced via a Ranger-led walk. For the little ones in tow, the Park offers zorbing and archery, not to mention Fort Douglas Adventure Park, a magical turreted tree house, complete with suspension bridge, climbing frame, secret tunnels plus knights, princesses and pirates.
The Scottish capital city of Edinburgh is of course renowned for its history and a trip to the Castle and Royal Mile is a must. Also recommended are the many art galleries including The Scottish, Scottish National, National Portrait and Modern Art galleries. For the green fingered, the Botanic Gardens, with their tropical and temperate palm glass-houses, arboretum and allotments offer a welcome break from the bustle of the city centre. Live traditional music takes place in many locations across the city throughout the week and food from all four corners of the world is readily available.
There are a number of fantastic beaches relatively close by including Cramond, Gullane, Portobello, North Berwick, Seacliff, Belhaven Bay and Silver Sands and easy access to the main roads leading to the Lothian, Fife and Border regions for anyone looking for a day further afield.

The house was generally nice. Beds were comfy and the house was clean. The shop was around the corner so that was convenient. The windows were dirty and jammed, not easy to open or close. The centre is two buses away so we had to get Ubers. The bathroom is small especially when there were five of us. It was expensive considering the area. Thank you

Spacious, homey, great bang for your buck. 4 adults had no issues with space. Make sure you bring toiletries. We had to buy extra paper towel and toilet paper. For a week we only got 1 towel each but if you’re desperate, there’s a washer to wash your towels. No dry so time your drying accordingly! When we arrive there was dish towels soaked and stinky left in the wash machine. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay! I would definitely recommend this to a family or couples. The bus route to the city centre is amazing. Just hop on 1 bus, and you get yourself a little tour the whole way there. The co-op nearby is great as well! We got to get a lot of goodies and could cook them up in the fully equipped kitchen!! :)
