While nearby there is the climbing centre at Ratho, the grand houses of Hopetoun and the House of the Binns, and further afield you reach Perth, Stirling or the villages of Fife and East Lothian within an hour. There are lovely walks and cycle routes from the doorstep, as well as several pubs, restaurants and a monthly farmer’s market in Balerno, with golf, fishing and riding nearby too. Beach 18 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.
