About this property

Salen 6 miles. Privately situated and surrounded by lovely large gardens, this charming, coastal, detached whitewashed stone cottage is an ideal holiday retreat in Glenborrodale Bay, where the river meets the sea, midway along the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Set near Salen with its shop/café and hotel with restaurant and bar, this cosy cottage offers lovely open views to the surrounding hills and mountains, where an abundance of wildlife thrives, and the tranquillity is only broken by the sound of birds singing and the clashing of deer antlers found adjacent to the sawmill! Guests can expect to see red deer, fallow deer and a pine marten family who live there and for those lucky guests, you may even see the elusive Scottish wildcat. Built many years ago as the power house to Glenborrodale Castle, the cottage has been tastefully upgraded and refurbished to suit a family or group of friends who will enjoy exploring the picturesque Ardnamurchan Peninsula together. There are three tastefully-presented bedrooms and a spacious open-plan living area with a welcoming woodburning stove. The well-equipped kitchen ensures meals can be prepared with ease and enjoyed around the table at the end of an active day. The driveway to the cottage is bordered by lovely plants and the fully enclosed front garden is a fantastic place to sit and enjoy a pre-dinner glass of wine whilst soaking up the wonderful views and watching the small stream bubbling by. The area boasts outstanding coastal scenery and whether you're seeking scenic walking/hiking, cycling, angling, sailing, canoeing/ kayaking or more, you're sure to be very happy here indeed in the peace and quiet! The Glenborrodale area has much to offer including Glenborrodale Castle, the Ardnamurchan distillery with visitor centre, Nadurra Natural History Visitor Centre and Ardnamurchan Charters, where boat hire is available as are day trips to the islands and sealife tours. There is also an RSPB reserve within walking distance with wonderful walks and wildlife and where you may experience many birds that live and visit the area, including the golden eagle and the rare white-tailed eagle. There are also many great, white sandy beaches to relax upon and marvel at the turquoise waters and here you may encounter otters and be lucky enough to spot dolphins and whales! Why not also visit Ardnamurchan Lighthouse to enjoy afternoon tea? Also visitors can take the ferry from Kilchoan on a day trip across to Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, where you can spend the day enjoying the delights of the island! A short drive away is Acharacle where you'll find a shop/Post Office, cafés/tea rooms and a hotel and restaurants. Whatever you have planned, this stunning area provides the perfect playground for your daily adventure, and this cottage is an utter delight to return to.
