Lying on the north bank of the River Beauly, just 12 miles west of Inverness, the village of Beauly is situated at the very heart of the Highlands. An excellent location for touring, the village is within easy reach of Loch Ness, the ancient Caledonian pine forests of Glen Affric and Strathfarrar and the coast (sandy beaches 8 miles). The name Beauly comes from the French “beau lieu” or “beautiful place” and the village prides itself on being both scenic and well-kept, having won both Scotland and Britain in Bloom titles. One of Beauly's highlights is the ruined 13th Century priory, around which the village was built. Today the village is famous for its craft-based industries and offers an excellent selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. With some of the best scenery the Highlands has to offer just on the doorstep, Beauly makes an excellent holiday base!

The Bothy was spotless, very comfortable and spacious and provided everything we needed. The location is perfect and offers so many options for walking, visiting places of interest and sightseeing. The scenery and wildlife were amazing, and the autumn colours were beautiful. Our host met us on arrival and couldnât have been more helpful and friendly. The bagpipes were an added bonus and lovely surprise on our first evening. We canât recommend staying here highly enough.

The Bothy was in a beautiful peaceful setting with a great outside area unfortunately due to weather we didnât get to use bbq It is well equipped and comfortable and was an ideal base for us. The only minor complaint was that the tv signal was very poor , so we couldnât watch it in the evening but as I say only minor and didnât detract from our stay
