From here, you can also book a boat tour of the uninhabited island of Stroma. Closer to home, Sinclair’s Bay is only 11 miles away, a pristine, white-sand beach that’s perfect for long walks, with picturesque views of two ruined castles. In Wick (4.5 miles), there are shops, restaurants, a heritage centre and a 200-year-old distillery.
