The picturesque and historic village of Cawdor has much to offer visitors who will appreciate the quiet ambiance of the village. Cawdor is famous for its 'Macbeth' connection with its 17th century Castle which is still home to the Cawdor family today. There is also a first class tavern boasting modern Scottish food with flair accompanied by a first class choice of wines. The city of Inverness, known as The Capital of the Highlands, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil. Inverness is the gateway to the stunning west coast and even a day trip across the sea to Skye is possible. Inverness City itself has much to offer – museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The area is packed with opportunities for outdoor pursuits especially as the Cairngorm National Park is just 40 mins drive away where skiing, snowboarding, climbing and so much more are readily available. For the Golf enthusiast this area offers an abundance of championship courses within a short drive and of course mountain bikers will be impressed with the selection of tracks that pass through fabulous scenery. Lovely quiet location and friendly neighbour.

Th summerhouse was a nice bonus. Great communication with the owner. Nice welcome cakes, fruit and wine on arrival. Fantastic views across the Moray Firth. Plenty to do in the area. My only suggestion would be to get a stair gate, dogs are not allowed upstairs, we had to use a couple of dining chairs to block them off. This didn’t impact on our wonderful stay, we hope to return

If had everything we needed. Facilities were in excess of what we expected. The neighbors (hope I remembered her name correct) next door were absolute gems and lent us their BBQ when they saw me using a pair of disposable ones. The views are stunning, even when it's tipping it down. The summer house at the bottom of the garden is a wonderful place to sit the night away. There is so much to do nearby and you're only limited by your willingness to travel. Most adventure parks and the best bits of the Cairngorms are all within an hour's drive. There was just a few minor things that would have made our stay better. Don't know if these apply across the board. A gate towards the front of the drive would have allowed us to have the doors open and give the dog free roam of all the space. I guess this would apply to children to some extent. The location on the directions was a bit wooly. I think this should be replaced with a 'what3words' location. This is used by emergency services and companies to plot exact locations that night not be as easily located. Here is a precise what3words address, made of 3 random words. Every 3 metre square in the world has its own unique what3words address. ///stylists.agreeing.marked https://w3w.co/stylists.agreeing.marked I think the blinds need to be black out ones. Otherwise the light and airy nature of the cottage becomes an early wake up call. Maybe another radio upstairs. All in all, it was great and I wouldn't hesitate coming back or recommending it to family and friends
