Guests say

Taigh Uaine is a well-received cottage offering a peaceful retreat amidst stunning highland scenery. Guests appreciate its cleanliness, well-equipped kitchen, and cosy atmosphere, especially when hunkering down by the log fire. The remote location is ideal for stargazing, photography, and enjoying nature, with nearby beaches and cultural sites adding to the charm. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is one of tranquillity and natural beauty.

Reviews consistently mention the cleanliness of the cottage, indicating that guests are generally satisfied with the level of hygiene and upkeep.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, peacefulness, and proximity to natural attractions, making it an ideal spot for guests seeking a serene getaway.

The cottage is described as comfortable and cosy, particularly with the log fire, although one review mentioned it took time to warm up, suggesting some variability in comfort levels.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy furnishings. However, a non-functioning bathroom radiator and dated decor slightly detract from the overall maintenance score.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

This pretty detached single storey cottage is set in its own grounds at the end of the Achnacarnin township road on the Stoer Peninsula - one of the most breathtaking beautiful locations on the renowned north west coast of Scotland. With views across the sea to the Assynt Mountains beyond, this cottage has been built to maximise its idyllic location.

Whilst it is a modern property, the main living area takes its inspiration from a traditional croft house and byre, with high ceilings and wood burning stove, surrounded by Caithness stone. The Gaelic name translates at The Green House; this alludes not only to the outside paintwork, but also to its eco friendly green credentials with a heat pump supplying heat and hot water, which was pretty innovative when it was built. Shops, pub and restaurant 8 miles.

The laundry service picks up on Thursday mornings. They don't need to see you or come into the house as they collect from a separate place, but it can be a shock to see someone walk past the window in the early morning so we thought we'd warn you.

Great week's holiday, the cottage was cosy and warm, and well equipped. Fantastic views, and dark skies for stargazing. Excellent base for the Assynt mountains, and the coastal drive to Kylesku is beautiful.

Stunning location & views and big skies for sunsets, sunrises & all manner of celestial events. The cottage had everything we needed and was ideally positioned to enjoy this beautiful corner of the highlands. Only niggle was the bathroom radiator didn't seem to work, but that should be easily fixed for future visitors. Overall - a great 'getaway'!
