Going to Diabaig just for the journey is worth it, but to have Lily Lodge waiting for you at the end of your drive is a real treat!. Lily Lodge is an outstanding holiday home that everyone will love. It has been designed, built and finished to an exceptional standard, and the interior is exquisite, not to mention its location and stunning views. This detached property is everything you want from a holiday home. Driving to Diabaig on the west coast of Scotland is one of lifes joys. From whichever direction you are coming from, you will have mountains, forests and lochs galore to feast your eyes on. Once you arrive into Torridon, there’s just 9 miles left to go to Diabaig where Lily Lodge awaits. It’s one of the best drives in the world, and perhaps one of the slowest as there’s so many photo opportunities.
Entering Lily Lodge you arrive into a useful vestibule with space for coats and boots. The hallway is large and there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with twin beds, as well as a spacious shower room. The piste de resistance of Lily Lodge is the open plan living space which incorporates a sun room. This room is truly special and really makes the most of the setting and abundance of natural light. This large space is perfect for the whole family to relax and enjoy a meal, a movie or simply enjoying the sea view. There is also a utility room with access to the garden. On the first floor there are two further bedrooms, both very spacious with en-suite facilities and views over the bay, to the mountains and out to sea. There is also a small double bedroom with views over hills and crofting land. For those looking to enjoy a family get-together or spend time with friends, there is also a bothy in the grounds which offers accommodation for 2 guests.
Arriving into the hamlet of Upper and Lower Diabaig you’ll be taken aback that the road has been trumped. This amazing settlement of crofts and cottages terraced around the bay has a historic curved pier as its centrepiece, all surrounded by rocky, imposing hills. This idyllic spot really shows Scotland at its best. Staying at Lily Lodge means you’ll be able to soak in the Diabaig setting with ease. The location is perfect and views can be enjoyed from pretty much every room; take in the bay, the sea further out and surrounding hills and mountains.
For those looking to explore, there is so much close by. Hiking is high on the agenda for most that visit this part of the world, with Torridon just down the road. There are walks and hikes all over this part of Wester Ross, and the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve on the southern shores of Loch Maree is easily accessible. Beyond Torridon and Loch Maree you have Gairloch to the north with its lovely neighbouring villages, and to the south there is the amazing Applecross Peninsula which can be seen from Lily Lodge. Come for a week, and return for years! Shop 9 miles, pub 11 miles and restaurant 500 yards.

The house was very comfortable and perfect for our group of 8 but it is the location that makes this rental outstanding. An ideal base for outdoor activities in a lovely quiet spot with spectacular views. Less than 10 minutes walk to the Gille Brighde restaurant. Lower Diabaig is at the bottom of a series of very steep hills so cyclists beware! We transported our bikes to Torridon to start most rides which worked well.

We visited Lilly Lodge as a family party of 10 to celebrate a special birthday and the accommodation was perfect for us.The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of pans, crockery, nice glasses and serving dishes. The utility room was huge, great for storing extras.The furnishings, beds and bedding were good quality and very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the views were stunning.The road is quite something else with its hairpin bends and blind summits but as long as everyone goes slow it's fine.One of the things we particularly liked that persuaded us to book was that it is a pet free house. We quite often have difficulty in finding pet free rentals and this is a necessity for us as one family member has a severe asthma allergy and would get seriously ill if subject to pet hair. So well done Lilly Lodge, we will definitely be back.

- Sehr schönes Ferienhaus in traumhafter Lage für alle die "mal weg" sein wollen und einen ruhigen Urlaub in einer tollen Landschaft mögen.- Insgesamt hochwertige Ausstattung, es hat nichts gefehlt. Alles sehr sauber. - Gut geeignet für bis zu 6 Personen (wir waren zu fünft), darüber hinaus wird es vermutlich eng und für die mögliche Maximalbelegung von 10 Personen wird das dann unseres Erachtens auch in der Küche eine Herausforderung.- Die WLAN-Verbindung ist allerdings nicht sehr gut, was für uns aber kein Problem darstellte, weil wir über Mobiltelefon uns gut selbst versorgen konnten.- Tipp: Die lokalen Geschäfte sind eher für den Ergänzungsbedarf geeignet, grundsätzlich empfiehlt es sich beispielsweise bereits im Supermarkt in Inverness den Großteil der Lebensmittel vorab einzukaufen.Aber insgesamt sehr schöner Aufenthalt, falls wir nochmals in die Gegend kommen gerne wieder.
