This cottage is the best cottage we have stayed at in terms of the view and in a very nice setting in a quieter part of Skye. The sea and coast from the living room windows were amazing and changed throughout the day and were spectacular with whatever the weather. We enjoyed the night skies too. The rural location had an abundance of beautiful wild flowers and greenery. We saw an array of wildlife around the cottage and on the Isle.We stayed for two weeks in peak period. The welcome pack was a box of shortbread and a bottle of fizz - not enough for 8 guests. There is no tea or coffee provided as basic for when you arrive at the property after a long journey so be sure to take this with you and pick up some milk on the way. The community shop is about 10 miles away and nearest supermarket is further away in Portree. We saw other reviews which said that the cottage was well equipped and clean and we would not agree with this in our experience. This review is meant as a helpful guide to those thinking of staying and those who have already booked. There were a lot of cobwebs and would have tackled these if there was appropriate equipment to use on them. There was washing up liquid and some hand soap but nothing to clean and disinfect surfaces to keep the place tidier so you may need to bring your own.If you are cooking in the kitchen the extractor fan is not effective enough - too small. The knives supplied and displayed on the kitchen wall are not sharp enough so a better knife set would have made cooking easier. There is a rolling pin and other such kitchen equipment you might not need on a holiday if you class that as well equipped. The en suite shower is not fit for guests. The shower curtain curls into the cubicle to touch you while showering and also covers the plug hole which can then block the shower tray causing a flood. You then have to keep an eye on this the whole time you are showering. A cheap remedy by someone has been to cut a bit out of the stained curtain which doesn't always work and doesn’t give a good vibe of cleanliness or tidiness. The downstairs wet room was very good and there is a lovely bath in another upstairs bathroom. When you open the dishwasher door more often than not the panel under the cupboards drops off - this could drop on someone's feet.If you have an electric toothbrush or electric shaver there is no shaver adapter point or plug to charge so take a plug adapter with you.The cottage can host 8 people but there are only 8 coffee / tea mugs in the cupboard so have to keep washing them.Later in the day the sun is welcome in the living room but it can get hot so it's a gamble between opening the doors for cooler air (not all windows work) and letting midges in. There are no blinds or curtains on these. The view is amazing though.Lovely big television but with lots of extra gadgets and remotes. If you take your dog the cottage info says they are not allowed on furniture or upstairs – OK for us but if your pet may be used to getting up on a sofa or likes to sleep near you then take this into account. The information pack looked tatty under the table in the living room – whether previous guests had left it like this then it needs to be rethought with better presentation. There were one or two other wear and tear issues.Good array of games and jigsaws and missing pieces were noted on a piece of paper in the boxes. Some of the above points were brought to the caretakers attention but with no resolution - just a polite acknowledgement. We were offered to have our sheets cleaned between week 1 and 2. We asked for more towels as the towels supplied were too small - we are tall people and the basic towels supplied were not adequate - bath sheet towel size would be better - I think there was one of that size supplied. The towels felt rough and a bit past their best. The cottage could be much better if a bit more care was taken in view of possible 8 guest capacity and keeping it clean. We got out and about and had a great time on Skye and we did get to relax in the cottage.

The location is fantastic however we found the property to be lacking in cleanliness. The bed in the small bedroom had not been changed. There were cobwebs in just about every corner of the house. We could not use the en-suite as it was overflowing the shower tray and we did not want to cause any damage, as it looked as though there had been previous flood damage to the kitchen ceiling. We did report to the care taker who just said this was not normal but no action taken or apology for the inconvenience

Some more comfortable chairs for sitting outside. Blinds on the windows downstairs to block the glare of the evening sunInstructions for entry to the property weren’t provided. Luckily the front door is open. Soap provided in soap dispensers in all bathrooms rather than one bar of soap in one bathroom
