A short drive away is the ruins of the 15th-century Ardvreck Castle on the shores of Loch Assynt, rich in history and legend. Don’t miss a visit to the Bone Caves of Inchnadamph a fascinating set of limestone caves where ancient animal bones, including those of bears and lynxes, have been discovered.
Why not challenge yourself to a couple of Munro’s with both Ben More Assynt and Conival right on your doorstep these hills are renowned for spectacular panoramic views. You won’t have to travel to spot red deer as they will be in your garden for breakfast, the area is special for wildlife lovers with the chance of seeing golden eagles, and otters in their natural habitat.
The nearby picturesque fishing village of Lochinver offers an excellent selection of seafood, local crafts, and stunning coastal walks. Take a scenic drive to admire the engineering marvel of Kylesku Bridge and visit the nearby waterfalls.
