Camisky Lodge occupies a site with a fascinating heritage stretching back centuries. Originally a fishing lodge associated with Inverlochy Castle in the early 1700s, the property was transformed during the late 19th century into the grand Victorian-Edwardian residence seen today.
The lodge was built in 1870 by Lord Abinger, a distinguished Crimean War officer, who is also credited with developing nearby Inverlochy Castle. The castle famously welcomed Queen Victoria and her trusted ghillie, John Brown, during their visit to the Highlands in 1873.
Camisky Lodge also played a role in one of Britain's most talked-about royal stories. In 1935, Lady Annie Henrietta Yule, owner of the magnificent yacht Nahlin, welcomed guests including the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) and the future Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson. Following a voyage aboard Nahlin, the couple spent time at Camisky Lodge, just a year before Edward VIII famously abdicated the throne.
