The charming settlement of Glenelg could be considered ‘off the beaten track’ however, once here, many tourist hotspots are easily reached especially with the use of the local ferry (running from April to October) taking you ‘over the sea to Skye’. Even though many tourist hotspots are available, guests may find they don’t want to stray far with so much to enjoy on the doorstep. Soak up the freshest of Highland air, take to the hills, go for a paddle, become engrossed in a novel, and switch off from modern life. The Glenelg Inn next door is renowned for its warm Highland welcome, and the local shop provides all your essentials. Glenelg itself is peaceful and remote, but it’s also within easy reach of some of Scotland’s most popular tourist destinations including the Isle of Skye, Plockton, Applecross and Eilean Donan Castle easily. This area is paradise for those who love getting their boots muddy or spotting some rare wildlife.
The area is one of outstanding beauty and the views of Skye can literally change minute by minute with sunsets being particularly memorable. Glen Mhor benefits from having many amenities nearby, whilst being surrounded by some of Scotland’s most dramatic and stunning scenery on offer.
Only dogs allowed at the property.

We have stayed in this particular cottage twice now. A fabulous location; Glenelg has so much to offer and is so beautiful. With a pub serving fabulous food on your door step, a local shop, the turntable ferry to Skye only walking distance away and an hour walk to the local Dun Brewing Microbrewery, how can you go wrong? The cottage is lovely, clean, has a very comfy huge bed in the main bedroom, comfy sofas and now has a table large enough for bigger groups within the lounge area. The heating is on an auto setting, so you don't have to do anything, but can be topped up for an hour using the fire place in the lounge for colder evenings. The use of the rear door into a covered porch within the kitchen is handy, keeping any 'walking' mess, including boots and wet coats in one place to dry out. Only a couple of things let it down; horrible fry pans that you really wouldn't want to use and the cooker hood lighting still does not work, which I believe poses a safety issue because the hob is inset, thus lighting is poor. We had to rig up a torch to see what we were cooking. Although, generally the garden is dog friendly, I don't think it is Terrier friendly. We had to watch over our two Borders and have them on lead, especially when the roaming sheep were outside the gate. Fully recommended and would be happy to return in years to come given the opportunity.
