Torgorm is a well-equipped cottage boasting stunning views and a prime location for relaxation and local exploration. Guests have praised its spaciousness, comfortable setting, and the mesmerising landscape. While some minor issues were noted, the property's charm and the area's natural beauty are consistently appreciated.
Reviews indicate a mix of experiences regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property to be clean and well-maintained, while others noted areas that required attention and a deep clean. The overall sentiment suggests room for improvement in this aspect.
The location is highly praised for its outstanding views and proximity to local attractions. Guests are enchanted by the scenery and the nearby Glenelg Inn, making it an ideal spot for those seeking natural beauty and tranquillity.
Comfort levels are generally high, with specific mentions of a well-appointed house and comfortable living spaces. However, some guests reported firm mattresses and a hard bed in the main bedroom, indicating that comfort could be enhanced with softer bedding options.
Facilities are well-regarded, with the property being described as well-equipped. Nonetheless, there are comments about maintenance issues such as the need for a new mattress, hot water problems in the ensuite shower, and minor appliance repairs, suggesting that some updates are necessary.
While some guests mentioned the absence of a welcome pack, which is often appreciated, there is not enough information to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such amenities will be provided.
A lovely detached cottage, occupying a stunning elevated location, with an array of wildlife, and uninterrupted, beautiful views of the Isle of Skye, in the picturesque village of Glenelg on the fabulous west coast of the Scottish Highlands. From its private hillside situation, this Highland cottage boasts breathtaking, uninterrupted views across the Sound of Sleat to the Isle of Skye, and views to the smaller islands of Rhum and Eigg. Very well-appointed throughout, this Glenelg cottage would be ideal for a family group or group of friends who will enjoy this area and all that it has to offer. There are three well-presented bedrooms in this Glenelg cottage, and a very comfortable sitting room with a dining area with welcoming multi fuel stove and fabulous views from the windows. Next door is the very well-equipped kitchen where you can enjoy cooking some tasty meals. The large, private and enclosed gardens to the front and rear are the perfect place for relaxing or dining alfresco, and just a short walk away is Glenelg Inn, a traditional inn with cosy character, lively music nights and excellent local cuisine, so there is no need to cook every night. The village has a very well-stocked local shop too. Of course, the community-owned ferry runs regularly in the summer months, sailing across the Sound of Sleat to Skye and is a most pleasant alternative to using the Skye Bridge, which is located just 25 miles away in the bigger village of Kyle of Lochalsh. There is so much for wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy in this beautiful part of the country with sea eagles, otters and seals seen regularly. This Glenelg cottage will delight visitors of all ages, who are sure enjoy a wonderful Highland holiday. EPC Rating: Band D
Situated just 10 miles from the main route to Skye is the small coastal village of Glenelg. Set on the shores of the Sound of Sleat, the village is surrounded by incredible, rugged scenery and has preserved its unspoilt beauty and sense of isolation, despite being within easy reach of the area's tourist attractions. Overlooking Skye, Glenelg is situated on a route once used by drovers from the island, crossing over the narrow Kyle Rhea straits to bring their cattle to market. Just a couple of miles away, on the Arnisdale road, visitors can find Sandaig bay - referred to as Camusfearna by Gavin Maxwell in his novel Ring of Bright Water. There is even a cairn for his beloved otter, Edal. Glenelg is also home to the best preserved Pictish Brochs on mainland Scotland and is the site of the ruins of Bernera Barracks - an 18th Century garrison for English government troops that still stands next to the village.

We were an adult family of 5, and we found Torgorm both roomy and comfortable. The kitchen was really well equipped. We cooked a lot, and there were loads of pans, crockery and utensils. The log burner was lovely, and made our stay. The only negative is that it would have been nice to have a small welcome pack of at least milk. Especially after our respective journeys of between 8 and 10 hours.

Many walks from the door and a little further afield. Glenelg inn and Dun brewing tap room is well worth a visit. We were also lucky enough to watch a stag wander passed the burn to the side of the house.

Did find a few minor problems window in small double bedroom does not fit correctly letting in draft. Dishwasher had not been emptied. Front door lock stiff. And only two toilet rolls for 4 guests.
