Guests appreciate the cosy touches, hot tub, and the property's suitability for relaxation and privacy. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns are noted, the house's charm and location provide a memorable holiday experience.
Guests have raised concerns about cleanliness, including cobwebs, mould around shower seals, and unwashed cutlery. However, clean beds and towels are consistently mentioned, suggesting variability in the standard of cleaning.

The property is described as comfortable, with clean and comfy beds, and plenty of hot water for showers. The presence of a games room and utility room adds to the comfort level.
While the range of equipment and amenities like a hot tub and pool table are appreciated, several reviews mention issues with appliances and maintenance needs, such as broken oven seals and leaky dishwashers.

We returned to The Big Hoose, for the third time, to a lovely, clean and welcoming house nestled in the pretty hamlet of Linside, overlooking the Kyle of Sutherland. The views from the property are stunning and serene, with beautiful skies … in particular wonderful sunsets. Watching the sheep grazing up close to the garden perimeter, and the rolling fields all around, the light playing on the Kyle of Sutherland, all added to the charm of staying in this wonderful property. Everything you could need is provided, including a lovely welcome pack, for which we were very appreciative. The hot tub was lovely and well maintained, and the decking provided a secure site to take in the view and walk out to the hot tub . Great that it is fenced all around the ample garden, made for a lot of room for the youngster's running about, and exercising the dogs on the property. Mind you, we had a little Dachshund puppy with us, who could have got through the fence on this occasion, but, the dogs were on the leads any way, because it is a farming community and the sheep were close by as already mentioned. This is just a note to let you know if you are bringing small dogs, don't take chances! Lovely holiday, I am sure we shall return again, in the warmer weather, we always seem to come out of season , and have never experienced it in the height of summer, but, it is the Highlands, so , bring a coat even if you do come in the summer, because it is very exposed location and the wind will whip up behind you … or blow rudely in your face. Nearest supermarkets are located in Tain, and there are a selection of handy shops in Bona Bridge, but for a grocery haul I would recommend Tain. Of course, several well known chain stores do online delivery to Linside, and you can pre-order before you arrive. There are walks you can take with your pets if you bring them, in and around Linside. Torches are essential as there is no street lighting at night, and at dusk you do need to be seen by the few cars that pass along the road or if you go into the garden to exercise the dogs in the evening and late at night, because it will be pitch black out there! We drove to Alness for a pet store when one of our dogs chewed through a harness strap, the drive to Alness passes through some breath taking countryside and views, this is a road which has snow gates ( for when there is heavy snow fall/and presumably also if there are very strong winds ) as it passes through higher ground, but the views over the Sutherland and beyond are extremely stunning, and worth the trip to the little town (even if you don't get out of the car at the peak's layby, to take in the view). Alness is a busy little town too, with food takeaway's and Co-Op store amongst a selection of others; although Tain is nearer, for stores like Asda, Home Bargains, Lidl, so, it depends on what you seek . The Glenmorangie Distillery is in the district on the way to Tain, if you are inclined to visit. The owner Carrie is lovely, and was friendly and helpful . We were very comfortable and happy to stay there between Christmas and following into the New Year. We would highly recommend this beautiful house, Complete with Piano! :)

After reading some of the previous reviews we were getting slightly worried to be honest. But as we are on our 5th stay here and have enjoyed all the previous holidays we decided to carry on regardless. Carrie was very proactive and let us know about any issues before we arrived. On an important note…..The dishwasher is working! 😀. Yes the house is getting slightly worn but that actually makes it more homely. The main thing is, It’s clean, warm and had everything we needed, including a lovely welcome pack. We throughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back. Thank you!

From outside the big hoose looks amazing , but the inside a little disappointing , seal on oven broken so you need to cook at a high temp , fridge froze food inside and was lacking door trays , dishwasher had a leak so couldn’t be used , house could do with a good clean , some spot lights in kitchen not working , the lamp in the games room had the legs broken off and where just left on the table , tap in bathroom needs securing tight as when you turn it on to wash hands the whole tap turns around plus the sink doesn’t empty very well due to it be blocked somewhere , no outside light for back garden , on the plus side beds clean and comfy and loads of hot water for showers ! We didn’t spend much time in the hoose as we were out and about most of the time .
