This was our second stay at Reay House and we shall be returning again next year. The property affords spacious accommodation and is clean and tidy. We always feel immediately at home there. A microwave oven in the kitchen would be a useful addition and those with mobility issues may find the 10-15 minute walk into the centre of Nairn a little daunting. That aside, I would highly recommend a stay here and we look forward to our visit in 2026.

We loved the space and comfort of Raey House. You do hear the toad noise from front bedrooms but the location is so convenient it definitely outweighs that.

I don't like to moan but there are some things that let this lovely big house down a bit as place to stay. The house is very well presented and has beautiful decor and gardens, more than enough space to relax, fairly clean and well maintained for an old house. It is clearly run by professionals but the things to be aware of and that could have gone better: 1. The road noise. The windows don't keep it out and the main road through Nairn that this is situated on is infinitely busier than I recall the last time I stayed. The traffic is constant. Even in the small hours of Sunday morning we couldn't believe we were still hearing a steady stream of traffic! It was like being in a city centre. What is going on in Nairn! There were tailbacks of queueing traffic all along the road at peak times so tried to avoid coming and going at those times. 2. Persistent damp smell at the back of the house around the main bathroom and 2 smaller bedrooms - you may have a slow leak under the bath or something that needs investigating ? Smells like old water soaked into floorboards or carpet underlay.3. The mattress in the 2nd bedroom (the one with the wooden bed) is very hard and uncomfortable compared with all the other mattresses which seem much newer and comfier. This mattress definitely needs replacing. Those were the main issues. Some other minor things to consider. Bin calander out of date? I think we put it out on the day after so it didnt get collected. Bins were already very full on arrival so I don't think previous guests put them out right either. No microwave? I know a pain to clean if someone messes them up but with a baby it was a convenience we really missed. To be fair it did not say microwave included. We just take them for granted. And finally, although pretty well cleaned, some deep cleaning would be great - the pots and pans (had to scrub frying pan before use), under rugs and sofa seats some debris, food wrappers from previous occupants. We weren't looking for issues, one of children has profound autism and a tries to put things in his mouth so we had to thoroughly check everywhere for small objects before letting him roam freely.
